Microsoft Office Product Key?

I got a new laptop & the Office that came with it was some kind of trial thing that has since expired. Can I use the product key from the one on my old laptop, since I'm not going to be using it anymore, or is that totally illegal? Will it even work?

Yes you can use it, however...

Remember you are buying a license to use the software. It cannot be installed in more than one pc. Its not worth the risk. You should uninstall from the first pc and use the same CD to install in the new one. Also be sure you uninstall the trial first also.

This is simular to having a hard drive fail. You will reinstall the operating system and all the software. Be sure you have all your media together. I use a CDROM carrier that holds a couple of hunderd of CD's. That way when you look for software it will be there. Be sure you keep any serial number or key with the CD.
