I COMPLETELY understand the weird father/daughter thing. Wonderful Tonight was a great suggestion. Another good choice might be "Stardust". There are several versions from different singers, but at my wedding my stepfather and I danced to the Willie Nelson one. It was appropriate, and I love Willie's voice. Also, do you have brown eyes? : ) Van Morrisson's "Brown-Eyed Girl" would be cute. You could also check out some songs by David Grey, Ellis Paul, Ray Lamontagne, Corey Smith. Beautiful voices and melodies that could work nicely as a father/daughter song. Good luck, and congratulations on your wedding!

If you're not close to him and you don't want to make anything seem fake, it strikes me as odd that you are choosing to have a father/daughter dance since that means that you do have a close relationship. You could keep the song very generic such as Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance". While the song "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson does fit with your situation, it's not the most appropriate choice.

You could do an instrumental song maybe?

Here's an album with some nice songs --you can hear samples if you scroll down.

    Best wishes!

(the song I'm thinking is "Joy" by George Winston or "The Bricklayer's Beautiful Daughter" by Will Ackerman or "Church of Trees" by Liz Story)

Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder could be fitting. It would be sorta like your dad pointing you out to everyone and how proud he is of you.

Have I told You Lately that I Love You by Rod Stewart also could be appropriate.

pertty much any song will work.

try to think of any songs that remind you of him; any songs that you remember hearing as you two were reunited.

Show some sensitivity, for goodness sake, you are coming across as very cold here. I recommend "Sunrise, Sunset" from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF; or even "BUTTERFLY KISSES" from more recent years. Nothing has to be or will be a perfect fit, and unless you are the reincarnation of MARTHA STEWART or such, give up this sick asinine quest for perfectionism.
