What's the best way to clean pet stains from carpet?

We have a Bissell Quicksteamer with the Pet Stain & Odor formula. We also have a bottle of Fresh 'n Clean Oxy-Strength with Arm & Hammer deodorizers that I use to clean the stains that do not need to be cleaned with the carpet cleaner.

The stains that do need the Bissell don't come out completely.

What's the best way/method to get these out? Should I pre-treat with the spray?

We plan to get that spot-cleaner, I don't know the name off the top of my head, but it's the small machine you just sit on the stains and leave it to clean them. We just can't afford it right now so, we need some tips to last until then.

Any cleaners, or sprays that you recommend?

I have a dog, 3 cats, and 2 rabbits. I have tried every cleaner under the sun for pets. I have the Bissel Spot Bot which is what you set on stains, and it works alright but for stubern stains I like doing it by hand better. To get urine stains out try Urine Gone which can be found at drug stores. It does work. The best cleaner for pets I found is Natures Miracle, which can be found at pet stores. It gets any kind of stain out and all the scent out.

I would highly suggest getting your carpet cleaned by a professional. Pet Stains leave a protein in your carpet that needs to be broken down in order to take away the stain and odor. Professional carpet cleaners use an enzyme to do this. Consult a professional to get the best results. FactoryFreshAZ.Com

I like the Woolite brand of stain remover as well as the spot shot brand of stain remover. Spray and give it a scrubbing with the upholstery attachment on your steamer machine (this is the most effective tool for cleaning areas that need special attention rather than the floor attachment). You need to also pour a bit of white vinegar onto the spot and then soak or suck up as much as you can and allow to air dry without rinsing the vinegar off. The vinegar will neutralize and kill the bacteria from the urine assuring that the pet will not come back to mark the same spot. Use vinegar and water in a spray bottle to clean up any accidents on other flooring as well. Avoid using anything with ammonia in it as that is the main ingredient in their urine that tells them to come back and potty there again.

I try to hit it with the Resolve spray for pet stains (in my grocery store) ASAP, then a little later, wipe up & spray some more Resolve. After an hour or two, or the next day, I use the Hoover steamvac with the pet stain & odor formula. This method works pretty well for me.

I have a suggestion that might help get the stain out and keep the pet from staining it further. If you didn't make the stain yourself, why should you have to clean it???

Give your pet all the products you have for cleaning the stain and make your pet scrub and clean until the stain is gone. Don't let your pet move from the spot until it has completed the cleaning task. Don't feed your pet ether until the stain is clean. This should be a lesson your pet will never forget.
