You have to go directly to the station and they will tell you what their hiring procedures are. You will be more able to get into a prison as a guard than a police force but the pay is similar.

To get onto a police force you usually have to go to an police academy. The first jobs open usually are in the jails. If you want to get a feel for it though, most counties are hiring parole agents on a regular basis. If you're interested, there is usually jobs open within the juvenile justice system as well. Your county web site should have job postings.

Source(s): I know someone who tried to get onto a local police force and I know several people who work with the courts.

Stay with the forensic science degree. This is something you really need if you plan on really catching the bad guy. It also allows for the rush of this type of work and the ability to do homicide crime scene evidence collection. Whatever you do finish this degree. Minor in criminal justice.

Apply, either at a police dept. or a prison. Most of the c.o.'s I know don't have any college schooling. They all just applied and were hired. Being a c.o. doesn't typically require the same things as does being a police officer. Good luck!

Sorry, I thought this was on of those word-play things - I was going to suggest that you dig a tunnel under the walls!

Do they have volunteers at any of those establishments?

Here in England we have (I think they are called Cadets) who patrol the streets as Community police officers. If they have that in America that would be a good start.

Just use a large wooden bar and push it with all your might against the station door. That should do the trick. But I guess the problem would be how to get out. :-(

depends on your state, but most required you have a complete 4 year degree or are in you last semester. You will also have to pass an county entrance exam, you county website or the place you want you will be able to give you a list of exam times--they usually test 3 or 4 times a year, and are very competive.
