Atheists opinions?

Whether God is real or not lets put aside for the moment. One thing that is factual is the existence of Jewish and Christian texts that came into existence at some point for some reason. Flawed or not, True or not or man made myth or not how do you as an atheist place a time upon these texts first appearance and how they compare to other ancient texts in quality, quantity and validity?

Few if any believe in the Egyptian Pharaohs religion but no one disputes the writings and glyphs on walls etc. False religion witha tangible beginning and history.

So, how do you as an atheist place a time upon these texts first appearance and how they compare to other ancient texts in quality, quantity and validity?

Update:

These texts in many respects can be dated to within very narrow periods of time. All ancient.

They jibe completely with the secular world and its history.

They are not copies of copies of copies as you suppose.

Not trying to prove God to you, just suggesting that your reliance on pop culture and the left wing for information about Christianity hasnt served you well.

Someone may hate the NAACP but its not wise to rely on getting your info about them a party of skin heads.

at a time those texts were taken seriously. they were people's religion. followers were killed. the abrahamic religions took over. what's to validate? one crazy set of beliefs was replaced by another.

Although originally an oral tradition, I think the old testament was written down in the 6th century BC when the Israelites were in or just departed from Babylon and the new testament was put together around the 2nd century AD. They are much greater in quantity and quality because much of the world still follows this particular religion. If you asked this question in 60 AD though there would be much more available on the Roman gods than Jesus. I think Christianity and Islam survived so well is because of the power that this particular brand of monotheism has over peoples minds. All Abrahamic religions promote violence against unbelievers, that helps a religion to survive as well.

Basically, I put them all in the same category, except the Bible was COLLECTED, so it's more of an anthology of ancient literature, as though the Oddysey, the Oedipus Cycle, the writings of Plato and Sappho were combined in a single book. Some bits are beautiful, some thought provolking, some ring true, some are pure fantasy, some parts disturb the hell out of you, but on the whole it's an interesting read.

That said, as much as I enjoy the worksof the ancient Greeks, I am not going to look to them to decide what I should do in 21st century America.

The timing of these texts is a moot point. The fact is that over thousands of years they were written, translated and edited by men who all had an agenda regardless of how innocent.

other religions have had texts as well, but Christians and Muslims were often the destroyers of those texts because they did not promote their particular way of worshiping. Christians ans Muslims have been more often the destroyers of culture and history than the makers and preservers of culture and history.

Me thinks you think of too plenty. faith with is needed to concept in Christianity or God and for that rely any philosophy alongside with Apathetic Agnosticism. My opinion on Atheists is they are very conflicted and might spend extra time questioning approximately God than Christians. i'm a Christian that believes Christ appeared in many varieties not basically the Biblical view. His(Christ's revelations) are contemporary in each and every significant and minor faith.Christ stated that human beings that accompanied His words have been saved.i'm additionally area Cherokee so I see no difference praying to the great Spirit, the writer than to the Christian, Hebrew Muslim God.

They seem pretty clearly to be derived from Sumerian texts and proto Canaanite myths. I'm quite interested in religious myths. The early Jews had several gods, and Yahweh was just one of several, who gradually seemd to become fused with the god El, finally loosing his wife Asherah when the Old testament was being written.

So the timing is probably about 2,000 BC (ish) for the OT.

Not sure what you are asking. Of course they came into existence (as worldly writing)

What do you mean 'place a time on'? I suppose scientists use some sort of carnbon dating. Which creationists are correct have not ever been verified scientifcally beyond a few thousand years.

It makes zero sense that a God who honestly wanted the whole world to know him would have limited his direct contact with humanity to one group of Bronze Age goatherders in a Middle Eastern backwater for so long.

What people consider the word of god, has more to do with politics and war, than it does with the quality of the text.

One day you will find out there is a god, there has to be a better place than this. You can put your fancy words to everything ,does not make you a nice person.
