What does tolerance mean?

Does tolerance mean I agree with you? Does it mean I say you are right? Or, does tolerance mean that although I disagree with what you believe to be right that I will still accept you as a human being?

Update:

Interesting, that some chose to get defensive, believing I was talking about them. I was actually talking about many things...

Would you disagree with someone for having blue eyes or being left-handed? Why then would you disagree with them for being homosexual?

Religious tolerance, to me, is believing that people of all faiths should be able to freely practice their faiths without interference, as long as that faith doesn't violate basic standards of civilization (for instance, a religion that requires human sacrifice would be one operating outside of current standards of civilization.)

Religious tolerance does not mean acknowledging all faiths as true, or never criticizing any aspect of any religion.

I think it means you don't intefere with another's right to have their own thoughts/feelings/opinions, whether or not you personally agree with them. But you are allowed to have your thoughts/opinions/feelings, and if that person is tolerant, they will allow you the same right.

It's a "live and let live" attitude. You may not agree, or share in the other person's way of life, but you let them do what they want.
