All-Star History?

A few years back a pitcher wasnot being used in the All-Star game, he got up and started warming up without permission from the Coaching staff, who was the pitcher, who was the Manager of the team that year and what ballpark was the All Star game being played at?

Unlike the recent trend I am not going to add a comment about "no-haters" or "don't say I am not right".

Update:

Also what year are we talking here?

Update 2:

Chipmaker was the first to get it, side note on that, he did not pitch because he was injured at the time with a shoulder problem and had not pitched in two weeks. He did it to try and force his way into the game at his home park.

Sounds like the 1993 ASG at Camden Yards, when Mussina started throwing prior to the ninth. The home crowd root root rooted for Gaston to put him in, but Moose didn't get the call.

The year was 1993,The pitcher was Baltimore Orioles Mike Mussina, the manager was Cito Gaston of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Park was Camden Yards.

When Mussina began warming up the fans began cheering for Moose to come into the game. In actual fact Gaston had in agreement with Orioles manager Johnny Oates decided not to use Mussina in the game because it would interfere with his normal rotation. Mussina decided that he needed the work so he began to warm up.

An interesting side note to that game is another pitcher did not get into that game. Gaston's own pitcher and future Cy Young award winner Pat Hentgen also had a DNP on his resume.

I don't remember this ever happening. I'm not saying it didn;t happen. The player may have just wanted to get some throwing in. Most pitchers throw between starts so that may have been what happened.
