I love Baseball and love to talk Baseball. I enjoy coming on here but my participation has waned lately due to an increase in my work load away from Y!A. Feel free to email me and we can talk Baseball, all other stuff you can keep to yourself.
WIth many people talking about PED's where is the uproar about Lasik?
People have focused solely on the HgH and Steroids as a "Performance Enhancer" but you never hear people talk about players getting Lasik eye surgery with nearly perfect vision to begin with to enhace their eye sight and swear by it. This is a "performance enhancer" is it not?
5 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoExpansion Question: What do you think will happen to the level of play if MLB were to expand?
Do you feel that it would increase the competition or water down the competition?
10 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoBest way to report a person that is trying to spread a virus through Answers
If you see Kellery C answer any questions with a Link do not click on it, it is a virus that the person is trying to spread.
What do you think the best way to report a person who does something like this is? Should Yahoo have a way to just report a user as a spammer or virus spreader that is easier to use than just going from question to question and reporting the same person?
6 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWith all the deadline deals being made, will any have a significant impact on the teams acquiring them
There have been may deadline deals over the years that have been done, most have very little impact on the teams that acquire the player, do you see any of these players making such a significant difference that they could be termed the "Difference maker"?
Tex seems like the likely choice but when traded last year he got hot and the team went south.
4 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWho are your top 5 pitchers from the 50's and 60's and how would they perform in today's game?
This is an opinion question, I would like to see what people's thoughts are in comparing the pitchers of yesterday to todays game.
8 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoRunge gets one game suspension...is the punishment enough for the crime?
I felt that he should get more than what a Manager would get because the Umpire should be held to a higher standard, what are your thoughts?
9 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoYou have the opportunity to watch any player from the 50's or 60's...who is it and why???
I am wondering who you would want to see play the great game of Baseball again, and why you would want to see that person...I will even let you pick the match-up. Example, my father always talked of the match-up he saw the night before going to Vietnam...Koufax vs. Marichal. I would love to see that again!
11 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWho, in your opinion, was the best OF in your lifetime at playing angles?
I have watched many OF for years that have been great in the field at playing the right angle and have seen far too many that take the wrong path more times than not. Who was the best that you have ever seen playing the outfield and why?
There is no wrong answer as long as you back it up.
11 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWhat do steals really tell you about a players speed?
This is coming off of another question that I answered yesterday about who is the fastest in the Majors, many people said that Reyes was because of his SB's or Crawford was because of his steals. Others said that Rickey Henderson was the fastest of all time due to the fact that he stole 130 one season back in the 80's. Can steals really tell you how fast someone is or does it tell you that the player knows how to steal bases, knows when to time the steal...basically he is a smarter player with regards to the basepaths more than he is the fastest guy on the field?
11 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWho are the 11 players to have played in the NBA and MLB?
There are more that have been drafted to the NBA and MLB butonly 11 have played both, can you name them?
4 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWhen talking about Hall of Fame snubs, what about Dom DiMaggio?
He was more than just Joe's little brother. What are your thoughts on him possibly gaining entrance into the Hall of Fame?
12 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoAll-Star History?
A few years back a pitcher wasnot being used in the All-Star game, he got up and started warming up without permission from the Coaching staff, who was the pitcher, who was the Manager of the team that year and what ballpark was the All Star game being played at?
Unlike the recent trend I am not going to add a comment about "no-haters" or "don't say I am not right".
3 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWith all the differences in playing conditions between ERA's how can we say who the best of all time really is
Baseball has evolved over the course of time from allowing the spit ball and having huge fields to having a lowered mound and smaller symetrical ballparks that encourage bigger numbers. Can anyone tell me what criteria you would use to compare players from a far back ERA to players of today's game.
5 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWhy does everyone over inflate Dan Haren's value?
Last year was his "best season" he started off 13-3 only to finish 15-9 on the season. He has done this every season of his career, he starts off great and then fades at the end, dynamic pitchers do not do this. He is more like Brad Penny than he is like Brandon Webb or Jake Peavey. I am just wondering if anyone can justify why he truely deserves all the love that he is getting for being the great pitcher that he has never been?
7 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoCould any Independent run and make a significant impact on the election?
If you say yes, who would you think it would be and what kind of impact would that person have. They can also be a Liberterian or other party as well, that is not the main two. Also would they have a chance and winning the whole thing?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHas anyone ever been to the Roger Maris Museum?
There is a museum to commemorate Roger Maris in Fargo, ND
I was able to stop in there last year and it was great, Maris history and Baseball History in general. My wife who is not a huge Baseball fan like myself really enjoyed it as well.
Any thoughts or opinions on this or any player museums?
7 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWould you still love Baseball if the type of game changed again?
What I mean is if Baseball were to return to the roots of Baseball and focus more on pitching, station to station baseball, the sacrifice, the hit and run, the stolen base...would you have the same passion for it as you do for todays game of hope for a walk and a two run homer?
It was not long ago that the NL was still in that mold and the AL was in the HR mold, the power hitter mold. What are your thoughts?
17 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoThe Cards signed Matt Clement on Jan 3rd, is this a good deal for them?
From ESPN "Clement gets a $1.25 million salary this year and can earn an additional $5.25 million in performance bonuses, receiving the full amount if he pitches 200 innings.
The Cardinals have an $8.75 million option for 2009 with a $250,000 buyout. The option would increase to $9 million and the buyout $500,000 if Clement reaches 160 innings this season; $9.5 million and $1 million for 180 innings; and $10 million and $1.5 million for 200 innings.
The option would become $11 million and the buyout $2 million if Clement finishes in the top five in 2008 Cy Young Award balloting."
Was this a good move by the Cardinals, a good gamble on their part or just another reclamation project that may not work out?
9 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoA's trade Swisher, does anyone have any thoughts on this?
he was traded to the White SOx for three Minor leaguers, anyone surprised by this?
18 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoWhat records are untouchable in MLB?
For years it was said that no one would pass Ruth's single season...been done, then it was Ruth's HR total...been done. Next it was Gehrig's Iron man streak and Cobb's hits records...all done, what in you opinion is truely an untouchable record. Is it the 56 game hitting streak or that all time wins or some other record?
