How many times do people have to witness death before they are completely desensitized?

Can't say for everyone only for myself. I have never really been affected by death. While growing up I was taken to at least eight or so funerals of various family members, I can
remember thinking that I was off somehow cause I wasn't crying and emotional like other people there. I haven't seen anyone die right in front of me but I have seen dead bodies. Death effects everyone differently, me though not a problem.
Call me coldhearted but that's how it is. Although I do feel badly for people that are greiving, even though I have no idea what they're feeling.

As a former police officer of several years, I can't say how many times you have to see it but you do get used to it and start to just accept it. I think the individual personality is what really determines how long it takes you to get desensitized. Some people are very soft-hearted and never seem to totally get used to it.
After the first 10 or 12 I guess is when I learned to just accept it. One thing that I NEVER was able to get desensitized to, however, was the accidental death of a small child. That always hurt and having kids of my own it always made me think about "what if that was my child".

Depends on the person, depends on the death, depends on a lot. I work in a nursing facility in a ward for people who are at the end of their life's journey, I see a lot of death but I am not desensitized to it. But the death I see comes to people who have led a long life and are now ill and in poor shape and feel it is their time to go. I may feel differently if I was in a situation where young people where dying prematurely, people were coming to violent ends, or some other situation.
