where there is a will, there is a way?

I'm not trying to be rude, absent minded, or anything, I have lots of friends who are LGBT and respect and love them all as people.

The only thing I'm not quite sure of is if it's at all possible that perhaps there in fact is a way to not be L,G or B.

I know it's believed that there isn't, but I think that the possibility is there. I would like to know what you all think, thank you.

Update:

See the whole sexual orientation labels actually confuse me, because a straight person can apparently become gay, a gay person apparently can become bi.... and I've been observing people who have the experience of being gay or bi or have changed orientations... then again these are college aged people.

The solution is to change attitudes, not change gay people. Even the founder of the so-called 'ex-gay' movement has renounced his organization, apologized to the gay community, and is living as a gay man. Sexual orientation is determined very early, probably before birth. And there is nothing whatsoever wrong with being gay! People should not be misled into thinking that they can be something they are not. It's like being left-handed. Just because you teach yourself to use your right hand, it does not mean you are right-handed, and you are going against your nature by doing so.

Is there a way for someone who is straight to not be heterosexual?

No, I don't think the possibility is there. I could choose not to act on my attraction to my partner....but that doesn't mean I'm not a lesbian.

Edit: It's not that you know people who were straight who "turned" gay....it's more likely that they finally understood what they were feeling and felt that it was okay to share that with you and/or others. The same with someone who is gay who "turns" bi....they didn't "turn" they simply realized and accepted.

Well for a start im gay.

I know I didnt choose to be gay, because why would I want to hurt my family and friends by coming out to them and also live a life of fear to what many LGBT people do.

So I don't think there is, but thats only my opinion!

What do you base your belief on?

If I told you that you should be able to convince yourself that the depth of your voice can be changed by wanting it bad enough, you'd think I was a fool. And yet, you were not born with your adult voice. Surely you can change it, right? And just by wishing it, right?

I know of no LGBT person who didn't try to change before they accepted themselves. It doesn't work, and for the same reason as any other aspect of sexuality that doesn't manifest itself before puberty cannot be changed by a wish.

Not gonna happen. There are lots of us who have tried, including myself for twenty long miserable years. You can fool some people, but in the end, you can't fool your self. You have to be who you have to be.

You are absolutely right, there IS a way.

It's called "straight" and it's for straight people. So now we can ALL have a label, hurray!

    it doesn't happen.

you need to only listen to those of us that tried it. Everyone else is just giving opinion, we are stating fact.

I tried for 6 long years....still gay. sorry.
