" PT-109" the Navy patrol boat the the late President became a hero by swimming with his men, towing one of the that was badly burned, to a near by island, then swimming again to another safer island, then yet again by himself to an island that had a Australian spotter working, to get them help.
Kennedy did not have to enter the war, his father tried to make him stay at home but, being whom he was, he had to go for himself, to be a hero, no man thinks about being a hero, he just does it without thinking, if he were to think about it, he probably wouldn't do the act.
