When will the american idol producers stop making these kids sing songs that were way before there time.?

Hopefully never. By comparison, most of today's music doesn't hold a candle to the music of the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Probably the same time they let pro basketball teams play on courts where the hoops are just one foot above the floor. What kind of "talent" contest would it be if you only had words to songs that all the contestants know? And how many parents would watch with their kids, if they had theme nights of all Rhianna or all Chris Brown songs?

Wanna make it easier? How about an all-nursery rhyme night?

The contestants need to know how to sing ALL kinds of music from ALL periods, not just the '90's up to this year. If they can't, why would record companies want to sign them?

Never. It's been doing well for how many seasons now? If it isn't broke, they won't fix it. Plus, American Idol is the number one watched show for three nights of the week, why would they change a thing?

well, those are the greatest songs and sometimes even the contestant themself would want to pick a big song that showcast their vocal talents

There's no any "big" songs in today music industry

Heart's Alone would be a good example, many contestant covers it such as carrie underwood, gina and this season, carly.

I haven't heard of any modern song that is covered that many times

i agree.......i wish they would let the people sing the song they choose to sing.. the weekly theme's are silly... if you look at any singing star, they sing what fits them, with their voice and they can feel the song, and therefore it works for them... i think it should be like that on american idol... it is not fair for them to have to sing any song that they do not feel...

psh i wish i knew! but older songs do open variety and bring them to modern day singing. but they should do some weeks where they do songs from now!
