Why is Jesus white?
If Christians accept the fact that Jesus was an Israelite which means he came from the middle east and was dark skinned why do they portray him as white?

Most Jewish are only withe because after the lost tribes was dispersed they mixed with who every people in the country they ended at.
I can tell you Jesus was fare from withe ,he looked more like a Arab then a withe man , I guess people painted an image of Jesus as they claimed him for their own .
If you look at paintings of all the apostle's from Greece or middle east churches, they are all middle eastern type people and certainly not withe.
Even today, in Israel , if you look at a Jewish person from the middle east , "born and raised there for centuries", I bet you can't tell if ,he/she is Jewish or Arab.
You can also look at it from a racist point of view, as many Christian will lost their fate if they knew is real color.
People are really " simple minded and ignorant"
But again , may be it is just the way people see thing , you can also question why they painted roman soldiers with a armor from the middle age ? And a castle in the back grown from the renaissance? Inaccuracy may be the major reason.

The Spirit that lived as Jesus Christ, was most likely a Brown-skinned man.
Jewish people are not the only Semitic peoples. As Semites are largely a mixture of Brown-skinned, from the Indus Valley. White-skinned from the Caucus Mountains. And even Red-skinned peoples. The Kittim from Northern Africa, who were the descendants of Atlantis.
How I do I know? I have eyes to see, am well read, and have a lot of common sense.

The same reason St. Nicholas (a Norwegian) is portrayed as being black in some retail stores - commercial appeal. Very few intelligent Christians believe that Jesus was a white man.

I have always wondered about why in the modern films he still is white and normally with blonde hair! I think it is because a long time ago when Christianity was strongest people thought that to be white was to be pure (hence racism) and he was always portrayed as white. I think he still is because it has just become the way that people think of his image.

the idea of a white race is an invention of the last 5 centuries and would not have meant much to Jesus. he was a human being, and his teaching is for everybody. if you are worried about his race you are totally missing the point. The Bible clearly says Jesus was just an ordinary man. God does not want one race to be exalted above any others. God does not want us to mke any representation of Him at all; in fact, it is one of the sins that irks Him the most. worrying about what race Jesus was is offensive to God. Love one another.

That is the artist conceptions of Jesus. No one really knows what He looked like. He was probably darker skinned and strong from being a carpenter. When He cleared out the temple no body really tried to stop Him.

The jews were dark as are most people in the middle east. When they were expelled from that region they went to europe and blended to become white.

We probably accept that because the artists painted him as white. It does say in the Bible that God made man in His own image. Therefore, a lot of whites probably assume that Jesus is white.
We really don't know that, for sure. I suspect He was rather dark skinned.
It doesn't really matter, does it?

THe portait that everyone recognizes as Jesus (the one just showing his face) was painted in the 70's (maybe decade earlier). This portrait became very popular and everyone just accepted it. I agree that Jesus was probably much darker, especially since he lived closer to the equator and people were likely much darker
