Which TV converter box should I get?
I'm about to get a converter box for the big switch over to digital broadcasting. Which box has the best tuner? Which has the most kewl features? or, are they all the same?
Thanks for the replys. I've read the Consumer's Report Preview as well. I was hoping for more info on the available feature set. For example, The program guide feature. Are there any other features I should make sure to get or consider?
Also, do these things work with my current rabbit ears or is there a frequency band change associated with the digital transmission? What frequency are the new digital channels transmitted on?
Do any of the units offer special effects, picture in picture etc?
Common people, my Government discount coupons are burning a hole in my pocket here!

I've seen good reviews of the LG/Zenith DTT900 (also sold under the Insignia brand) and the DigitalStream DTX9900 (which I bought and am quite happy with).
The GE/Jasco unit didn't fare so well in the one review I've seen of it.

Best - Zenith and Insignia (really the same box)
Worst - Magnavox (more likely to lock up and need to be powered down on a bad signal and also does not store the guide data so the guide of what is on is kind of intermittent on this box).

Do you get your TV reception from your own antenna or do you have cable?
If you have cable, you won't need a converter box.
