  • Instead of trying to move the ocean to the nuclear cores, why not helicopter the cores to the ocean?

We have seen the images of the Japanese Army Helicopters trying to move the ocean to the reactor buildings to keep the reactors and spent fuel cool. Wouldn't it make more sense to move at least the spent fuel into the ocean, just off shore? If not, why not?

  • What is the easiest OSCAR (Ham Radio Satellite) to hear?

Are any of the amateur radio birds easily heard with an omnidirectional antenna, like a 5/8 whip? I have just barely heard AX.25 being relayed via the international space station. Is there anything I can try to hear that is easier than that?

  • Hong Kong Post terminology?

I've ordered something from Hong Kong. It is being shipped via Hong Kong Post Airmail I have a tracking number. However, when I use the tracking service, the status information I receive is very cryptic and uninformative.

For example, the first status, which was provided 2 days after the item was shipped was: posting.

The second status was: departure from outward office of exchange

What the heck does that mean? Did the plane just take off? Did the plane land and the package was handed over to USPS? Did it go through customs? What does it mean?

    Thanks

  • XBOX 360 not reading optical discs?

It started not reading DVDs. That is it tries to read them, but then eventually suggests I open the tray. Now its not even reading games....we went from playing a game to immediately trying to watch a DVD, when the problem started, and then immediately wont read the same game that was playing without a problem.

Other than send it for repair, are there any suggestions?

  • How would you suggest repairing this bumper tear (Picasa picture link)?

This car hit debris on the highway (a plastic bucket) and at least the bottom portion of a tear resulted in the plastic bumper cover. The tear went un-attended for a while resulting (I think) in the upper portion of the tear. I'm looking for suggestions for repairing it. The 3M and Bondo products I've found seem to be directed toward gap filling. Should I use one of those anyway? Would a super glue do the trick? How about Gorilla Glue? I'm not looking for pretty here.... durable and easy are my goals. 2 pictures of the tear are at the link below.

  • Will/have TSA Pat Downs Kill /killed more people than they save?

Some people haven't flown since they started making people take off their shoes.

Now that the choice is between being microwaved/sexually assaulted, even more people will stop flying and will take to the roads instead.

That will make the highways more dangerous and lead to more fatal car crashes.

And then there are the additional cancers and blindnesses caused by the microwaving/x-raying.

So, will the TSA screenings kill more people than they save?

  • Have you used Head Gasket Sealer ?

My car is over heating very quickly. The fans work, the water is flowing, there is a temperature differential either port of the radiator.

Head gasket sealer has been suggested. Has it worked for you? Have you tried it and had it not work?

If it you tried it because your car was over heating.... did it over heat while you were applying the sealer? how bad?

  • Hallelujah - Sounds like Freddie Mercury, Who is it, where do I find it?

I've heard a version of Hallelujah (written by Lenard Cohen) that sounds to my ear like its sung by Freddie or someone channeling Freddie. Do you know which version I'm referring to? Do you know who's recording it is?

Extra points for a link to at least a confirming sample.

    Thanks

  • DVD Player often says No Play?

I get a lot of the DVDs I watch from the Library. They are usually a bit beat up. When I try to watch them, often my DVD play will say No Play and display a message that says it can't play this type of disk. If I turn the player on and off a dozen or more times, I can often get it to play the DVD, often with no further problem.

If I try to play one of my own DVDs, which are relatively well cared for, they play with no problem.

The question is, which part of the DVD is it that is scratched or what ever, that is causing the no play message (the outer edge? The inner ring? A bar code? Data in the middle?) and is there some sort of polisher or miracle fluid I can use that will make it easier to watch scratched DVD? If so, which one and where can I get it?

  • Recommend A Smart Universal Battery Charger Please?

I want a battery charger for Ni-MH batteries in the AA/AAA/C and D sizes.

I want it to be able to charge at least 4 batteries at a time. But I want each channle to be independent, so that the batteries can be at different levels of discharge when charging begins.

I've seen many chargers on ebay from all-batteries.com. However, there specs are written in broken English and are not clear.

So, can you recommend a smart charger with at least 4 independent channels?

  • 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertable ABS Light Typical Cause?

I realize there are a lot of reasons the ABS dummy light might come one. What Im wondering is, is there a typical reason it comes on in the subject car. For example, is it a known problem that the rear right wheel rotation sensor connector comes loose in cold weather? Is there some other typical cause? What caused it in yours?

  • Telescoping Antenna Repair - What tools/technique?

I must not know my own strength. I have several different radios that have different telescopic or telescoping antennas and I seem to have pulled one section out of its mating section on each of them.

Is there anyway to repair these antennas? I mean I can re insert the smaller portion, allong with the copper looking extra tabs, back into the larger diameter antenna portion. However, I don't know how to bend or curl the ed to the larger diameter section back into a lip in order to once again "permanently" capture the smaller section within the larger section.

Is there a special tool for this? Can you provide a link to a picture or drawing? Is there a special technique to do it using ordinary tools?

    Thanks
