What is the easiest OSCAR (Ham Radio Satellite) to hear?
Are any of the amateur radio birds easily heard with an omnidirectional antenna, like a 5/8 whip? I have just barely heard AX.25 being relayed via the international space station. Is there anything I can try to hear that is easier than that?

I hear a few every now and then I hear some from a 1/4 wave magmount but the signals come and go. Yagi's are fine but have to be pointed in the general direction of the satellite. Try a potato masher or a quadrifilar helix.

From my experience you need to know thier exact orbits to have half a chance of hearing them and then you have Doppler to deal with. There's a status chart at http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/satellites/status.p... A small crossed yagi is probably a better bet than a 5/8 whip.
