my computer screen turned blue. BSOD?

i leave my computer running 24'7 and this morning i went to use it, and the screen turned blue. i'm aware of the 'blue screen of death' and i think that may be it? how can i fix it without having to buy a whole new monitor?

Update:

i did re-boot it, and it just happened again; the same blue screen. also, i smelled a foul smell, like something burning when i turned the computer off.

Just reboot your machine...it should be fine...but if it's happened again...you have more serious problem..and No you don't need to buy a new monitor...it has nothing to do with the BSOD

This problem occurred in my monitor as well, my display turned yellow and sometimes it turned blue, there is a very easy method to resolve this problem if you also have the same problem, try to unplug the connector wire out of the cpu back panel and replug it but this time try asking your other family member(who'll be watching the display) if it became white or not, all of a moment when it becomes white display(normal) just leave the connection as it is and also avoid extra coiling of the wire, which actually loosens the plug connectivity. The bad news is that extra usage always leads to picture tube failure or it is also possible that your cpu back panel has been played over by some small child in your house which consequently has bent the plug points and they are catching wrong display signal ! try it and if it doesn't work contact the monitor/cpu back panel repair mechanic! good luck!

It depends. BSOD has nothing to do with your moniter, though. BSOD is a software/hardware error in your computer.

If it's a BSOD, then it will display an error message and a kind of cryptic error code following.

Try rebooting, and if it happens again, leave it off for awhile and try again. If you persistantly get the BSOD, them either go to a computer store to get it fixed or reinstall windows.

The BSOD is a software thing not a monitor thing... Try starting the computer in safe mode (hit f8 repeatedly on boot) and see if the computer starts completely. Once in safe mode run your systems utilities to check for problems.

    Hi

If there is a burning smell, switch it off and unplug immediately.

Contact the manufacturer's customer support, and notify them of the issue.

Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software . This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html

unplug it and then plug it back in.that might work,or just leave it off for a while.
