I joined the Army Reserves when I turned 17 then went active duty when I graduated.

Kiddie cruise is what it use to be called enlist at 17 and be out before your 21st birthday. My brother did just that after boot camp his remaining time was on the carrier Kearsarge and seen many places----Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Hawaii, down under and more. Talk of a girl in every port that was him but that was the early sixty and this is now.

At 17 you can join with parental consent but you must have a highschool diploma. Otherwise you can join the DEP program your senior year and after you graduate you ship off to bootcamp.

I joined at 17 in 1996 and have not regretted it. I have no break in service from my 17th birthday (that helps allot on payday)

my best friend joined when he was 17 in the national guard. He did the split option deal and right after ait they sent him on a troop exchange to norway. now hes in the navy lol
