Rob Van Dam - He actually competed in and won several tough man and kick boxing competitions prior to getting into wrestling.

Fritz Von Erich- was brutal and took liberties that weaker men would have gotten their teeth knocked out for. All his sons except Mike and Chris were legit tough guys too who could take it as well as give it out, though not quite as tough as their old man.

Lou Thesz- He carried the NWA title for so long precisely because he was a tough hooker who could be relied on to "protect" the title.

Dynamite Kid- Even though he was a punk with a bad attitude, he was a legitimate tough guy, and there are quite a few stories about him bullying other wrestlers.

Tracy Smothers and JBL - are two guys with a history of being tough and given their history of not liking each other I would have loved to have seen more of them getting in some legit licks at each other during the whole ONS thing.

Greg Valentine - was a guy who had alot of the old school stretcher mentality in him.

Andre the Giant - enough said. In his youth when he was agile and healthy Andre was a 7 foot tall 450 pound beast.

Paul Orndorff - Some say he was a legit tough guy, some say he was a punk that took cheapshots. He did bite off Tony Atlas's ear in a fight once and knocked Vader out stone cold with one punch.

Arn Anderson - plenty of stories about good ol AA being a tough guy out there. Sid Vicious did stab him about 20 times too while Arn held his own, bleeding like a stuck pick.

Buddy Roberts - He probably consistently took more punishment than any man I have ever seen TO THIS DAY in wrestling! against the Von Erichs during their feud with the Freebirds. He was basically the whipping boy and the Von Erich boys worked extremely stiff. Jimmy Garvin made a comment about working with the Von Erichs, that there were times when he had to crawl up his sidewalk to get to his front door, yet Buddy was like a piece of iron that you couldn't hurt and kept up that pace night after night. I will always be conviced because of that, that Buddy Roberts could hold his own.

Undertaker- I have heard stories of Undertaker KO'ing JBL in the lockerroom and of him working as leg breaker for loan sharks before he got into wrestling.

Thats about all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll add more as I remember, if I think about it.

Of those guys you listed, I would have to agree, all three had reputations of being tough guys especially Haku. There are some absolutely crazy stories about him being in street fights for fun.

Kevin Nash,I Think He Is One Of Those Legitimate "Tough Guys",Bruiser Brody Was A Bad *** In His Day Before He Died,Meng Was Also Pretty Tough.

I Would Think Umaga Is Tough In Real Life,Kurt Angle Is Tough IN Real Life,He Was An Olympic Gold Medalist.Sting,I Would Imagine Can Whip Some *** Also.

  • Batista and Booker T are legit tough guys. Batista used to steal cars as a teenager and once worked as a bouncer, where he was arrested for being involved in a fight. Booker T was an amateur boxer prior to being a wrestler and spent some time in jail for robbing a Wendy's where he once worked. Both of them got into a fight with one another prior to Summerslam 2006.

Shawn Michaels was once a tough guy as well before becoming a born-again Christian. Also, there were rumors of a sort of backstage frat in the WWE called the "Wrestler's Court" which comprised of Hardcore Holly, The Undertaker and John Bradshaw Layfield which was infamous for accounts of hazing and bullying towards younger wrestlers.

There are a lot more, actually. Just can't remember them all.

Oh, and BTW the guy The Great Khali supposedly killed died because of an accident also involving the Great Khali. No foul play involved. :)

I'd want to take on Finlay. He's practically a legend & 1 tough SOB to boot. Wether it's a "wrestling" match or an in ring fight it would be a great experience & a awesome story for the kids some day. As for my chances in the ring with him, I know I wouldn't stand any sort of chance against him, I'd deffinatly get my @$$ handed to me on a platter, but I'd still fight my hardest until I got pinned. But, if by some miracle I did win, hell I just beat Finlay, someone would notice me if I did that.

Paul Orndoff is reputed to have made Vader beg for mercy and humbled him during his WWF run. Jericho put Goldberg in a headlock that he couldn't get out of. Arn Anderson was stabbed with a pair of scissors by Sid, grabbed the scissors and started stabbing him back. Rikidozan was stabbed and kicked out the guys who stabbed him before pulling out the knife, though he tragically died a week later.

It's tough to say, really. I know Bart Gunn's tougher than a lot of wreslters out there from his performance in that Brawl For All or whatever they did before Wrestlemania 15, though that same tournament showed a lot of people that Steve Williams is nowhere near as tough as people often made him out to be. Same with JBL.

One guy who I know to be tough, though, is Lesnar. As much as I hate to admit it, he was destroying Frank Mir before he got submitted.

Oh yeah, Andre was of course one. Dynamite Kid was apparently asked by Savage to watch his back in a bar frequented by NWA wrestlers. I'd just like to add, being stiff and a bully doesn't make you tough. I'd like to see any of these American bullies try to hang in there with the likes of Kenta Kobashi or Toshiaki Kawada in his prime.

Edit: Oh, how could I ever have forgotten Steve Blackman? Total badass. Handed JBL his *** in a confrontation at an airport they had (you know, JBL isn't really tough, he's more of a backstage bully as well).

THE 3 YOU MENTIONED ARE OBVIOUS TOUGH GUYS.

OTHERS WOULD BE ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER THE REASON. ANYONE WHO USES A FORK AS A WEAPON IS TOUGH. I DONT THINK A SINGLE MATCH INVOLVING THE BUTCHER WENT WITHOUT BLOOD IN THE MATCH EITHER HIM OR HIS OPPONENT.

ANOTHER WOULD BE VADER. HE WAS ASKED BY A KUWAIT REPORTER IF WRESTLING WAS FAKE AND HE SHOWED THE REPORTER IT WASNT FAKE BY SLAPPING HIM UP.

TERRY FUNK IS ANOTHER TOUGH GUY. REASON WHAT OTHER 60 YEAR CAN STILL GET IN THE RING AND HAVE A HARDCORE MATCH.

HARDCORE HOLLY IS ANOTHER TOUGH GUY WHO IS A STIFF WORKER AND WILL SHOOT IN THE RING IF HE FEELS LIKE IT.
