Why should I star a question?

Marking good questions with a star helps Answers surface the best content on the site.

When a question gets a star, it’s automatically nominated to appear in the “Popular” list on the Answers home page.

Answers’ Popular list gives insight into what the community thinks are the most interesting questions at any given point in time.

Answers’ Popular list is similar to Flickr's “Interestingness” feature and the “Hotlist” on del.icio.us where sharing popular content enriches the experience for the entire community.

Note: You can see the nicknames of people who gave a question a star. Listing other answerers who found a question interesting:

    · Helps the community learn about each other’s common interests.

    · Helps you connect to answerers with interests similar to yours.

I don't think so really. You get the stars because the person(s) found your question interesting and they may look back at your question.

Well, one of the reasons I star questions is so that my contacts can see it. They may have more or better information to offer so you have a better chance of getting what you need.

I star questions as a reminder to go back to them for whatever reason I might have for a particular question.

I like the ratio of q's asked to stars received.

    odd..I know.

  • Not really, stars just mean that someone found your question interesting, you don't win any points or any other "prize" for that matter.
