Question about the holy spirit?
If two people are in a room and both of them are claiming to be filled with the holy ghost, and if the spirit moves in one, will the other move in the spirit simultaneously?
I am asking because if it's the same spirit, won't it move everyone with the holy ghost that is in close proximity?
Thanks.
Oh, and no foolish answers please. This is a serious question. If you don't believe in holy spirit, please don't leave an answer.
thanks again.

The Holy Spirit is not some free form spirit that floats about the room, and falls upon someone at a moment of inspirational emotion.
The Holy Spirit is a gift given to each believer as a earnest from GOD, You do not get more of the Holy Spirit by anything you do, and you do not FEEL the Holy Spirit in your life
Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
A. What is 'being filled with the Spirit" and how can I accomplish this?
1. Comparing Ephesians 5:18-19 and Colossians 3:16 shows that investing your life in the Word of God and letting it dwell in your heart will produce the same results in your life as being filled with the Spirit. The more you saturate your mind with the Word of God, the closer your relationship to the Holy Spirit will be.
2. Simply WALK in the Spirit. Walking is a steady, consistent, natural process of growth. Galatians 5:16-18,25; Romans 8:1
3. Allow God to control your life by consciously and regularly yielding to Him. (Ephesians 4:30) The filling of the Holy Spirit is NOT you getting more of the Holy Spirit. You got all of Him there is at the time of salvation. It is the Holy Spirit getting more of you.
4. BE PATIENT, PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT Being Consistently controlled by the-Holy Spirit does not happen overnight. It is a lifelong process of spiritual growth.

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a command (Eph. 5:18). It would be very easy for one person to obey that command, and another not to obey it, even if they are in the same room.
When you speak of "moving," it sounds as if you are speaking of physical manifestations.
The Holy Spirit can be grieved by our actions (Eph. 4:30), he can be resisted (Acts 7:51). The Holy Spirit has to be yielded to (Rom. 6:13, 16, 19; 1 Cor. 14:32). It's very possible for one person to be in the right spiritual condition to be moved by the Holy Spirit, while another is not.
God moves in us based on our spiritual proximity to Him, not our physical proximity to each other.

I believe the Holy Spirit speaks to each of us individually, and according to what we need to know at that moment. The Holy Spirit is not like a person who can only (for instance) speak one sentence at a time. The Holy Spirit can be everywhere, doing limitless different things in limitless numbers of peoples lives.

Every person is an individual, and every individual's relationship with God is unique and personal. The notion of the Holy Spirit as something that must affect everyone in close proximity equally seems to be based on a particular notion of its nature, one I find unhelpful.
Things that might equally affect everyone in the room would include:
- a gas leak;
- a water sprinkler operating in the middle of the room;
- explosive demolition of the building; or
- an earthquake;
- music playing.
But in any typical room, many things happen which do not affect everyone the same way. Multiple conversations may occur; even when there is one conversation, it tends to affect everyone differently. Temperatures vary; relationships among the people present vary; trains of thought vary.
Why discuss God in terms of ANY model that treats human beings as interchangeable? They aren't. Ever.

The best scriptural reference to this that comes immediately to mind is in Luke 1:39-55. (Mary's response is implied as Spirit driven.)
Discernment of Spirits is necessary - as you probably know not all spirits are Holy. All action of the Holy Spirit comes from either the God the Father, Satan, or ourselves.
If the Spirit moves in one who IS filled with the Holy Sprit, and the other is a Christian as well, it is entirely possible for God to move in the other simultaneously.

There is a distinction that must be made to being "filled" with the spirit and the "manifestation" of the spirit. In your example, "if the spirit moves in one..." ... in what way is He moving? Toungues, worship, healing, prophecy? etc. What ever way He manifests, does not necessarily mean that others will manifest in exactly the same way.
In my experience, when in this kind of invironment, the Spirit in each of us bares witness that what is transpiring is right.
That said, one of the sadnesses of the current incarnation of the church is that we are way to individualistic. Biblically, the whole upper room spoke in tongues. When Peter was at Cornealious' house, they all spoke in toungues. Does this mean that it MUST happen this way, I don't believe so.
Paul later cautioned the Corintian church to limit these kinds of expressions when they assembled together so that outsiders would not think they were crazy and thus not hear the message of Gospel.

Not necessarily. The Spirit may move in one but not the other. The thing to watch out for is that the one in whom the Spirit is not moving must not "fake" a feeling of the Spirit. Let's face it, people are human, and if you were the only one in a room of 20 people who did not feel the Spirit, you might just pretend to feel Him rather than being a loner.

yes- if in one accord BUT when the are 'moving' in the spirit it doesn't necessarily have to reflect or mirror the other person. One could be speaking in tongues because of the move of the spirit BUT the other might interpret what the tongue is saying. It must be in properness and order- because God is order.

The Holy Spirit duels in the ones who have chosen to receive him, and his anointing can be felt by others however that does not mean that he is in each person in the room.

Everyone feels the spirit differently. One might feel the Spirit during one instance and another person might feel it the next day. I believe what you may be thinking about is when one person feels the Spirit, what the next person might be feeling is the excitement and happiness for that person which could be mistaken for "feeling the spirit." This is just my opinion.
