Anyone heard of Gusano de Oro brand tequila?
Help finding a brand of tequila called Gusano de Oro. Anyone heard of it? My friend had this bottle of tequila bought in Mexico. It translates to The Gold Worm. I have translated the whole bottle but can not find the brand on the web. It is a black bottle with a string tied to it. There is a worm with a simbraro on the label. It is not a mexcal, which has a worm in the bottle. There were no worm IN the bottle. This is a special bottle tied to a memory so try not to suguest buying 'better.' So I just need to find somewhere to buy or order this bottle.
The following is EVERYTHING from the label.
gusano de oro hecho en mexico mercal legitimo de caxaca con su propo gusano envasado por : nacional vinicola s.a. azafran no. 609 08400 mexico d. f

Well like I said before when you posted this same question (and then deleted it), you are probably talking about a mezcal, not a tequila.
Tequila does not ever contain a worm. It's not allowed under Mexican law.
Since what you're describing is both called The Gold Worm and has a worm on the bottle, it's very unlikely it's tequila.
Most good mezcals don't have the "worm", which is really a larva, so chances are it's not a great quality one anyway.
To try and answer your question, it does say "bottled by: national vinicola inc.", so here is some info on the company. You can probably write or call to inquire about distrubution in the USA.
Nacional Vinicola S.A.
International Private company
Azafran No. 609 Granjas Mexico, Ciudad De Mexico, , Mexico
()52 5556571495, 52 5556481850 fax,
Primary SIC: Distilled & Blended Liquors, Primary NAICS: Distilleries
Description: Manufacturing: Beverage Manufacturing
Also, this linked article talks about mezcals made by this company.

I also added a link for Gusano Rojo Mezcal (The Red Worm). Could be the same company, and I imagine you could tell from the way the bottle looks.

A variety of cocktails are made with tequila, including the margarita, a cocktail that helped make tequila popular in the United States. The traditional margarita uses tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice, though many variations exist. Most popular in Mexico is a drink called the Paloma. Also, a number of martini variants involve tequila, as well as a large number of tequila drinks made by adding a fruit juice. These include the Tequila Sunrise and the Matador. Sodas and other carbonated drinks are a common mixer, as in the Tequila Slammer.

All tequilas have something called a NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana). This is a number that certifies that the tequila has been produced to the standards required by the mexican government.
It is usually 4 digits and will be on the label. For instance Cuervo's is 1104. Take that number then goto:
www.knet.co.za/tequila/nom.htm
This will tell you who produces the tequila as well as what other brands they do. From here search for the other brands in google along with the word "distributor". I am not sure what country you are in but this works with most obscure tequilas.
Good Luck

I had it when I lived in Laredo, TX... Got it in Nuevo Laredo< Mexico.... not sure if it available in this country.. some beers and spirits are not allowed to be sold here. But you can go to Mexico and bring it back and pay a small tax.. Best I can suggest..
