question about the mucus plug?
With my daughter I was 38 w 4 d and my water broke and they had to induce because contractions didn't start. I didn't pay attention to the mucus plug.
I am 38 w 1 d with my son and I just got back from the DR and I am 3 cm and he can feel the baby's head. I have tried to pay attention when I go to the bathroom but I still think the plug is in there. The Dr said my cervix is almost gone. When will I loose the plug?
I'm not basing that on labor the Dr said I probably wouldn't make it another week. I was just wondering about the plug!
So since my cervix is almost gone and I am 3 cm I prob have already lost it? I just don't want to be out when the thing falls out!
Sorry but I didn't give anyone a thumbs down!

It seems that you have already lost your plug. As throughout pregnancy, a mucus plug blocks the opening of the cervix to prevent bacteria from entering the uterus. Before labor, this mucus plug is expelled so that the cervix can open to allow the baby to pass through during labor and birth.
If you are 3 cm dilated then the chances are that the plug had gone.
Passing a mucus plug is a sign that your cervix is dilating and your body is starting to prepare for birth. Labor could be hours, days, or even weeks away as the cervix gradually opens over time.

Some people don't lose the plug, or it was so small, they didn't notice it. Also, some people lose it AFTER they give birth. Wierd I know, but I wouldnt use that as evidence that you are going into labor.
It will look like discharge when it comes out... You will notice wetness, but it will not be apparent to anyone else that your mucus plug has fallen out. Its just a quarter sized clump of what looks like snot.. lol. It could have some blood in it as well, but just a little.

the plug is what stays in place when your cervix is closed it works as a protective barrier for your baby so that germs wont enter. If your 3centimeters then you been lost your mucus plug.
