PCOS - How regular are your periods?

Hello I have PCOS. I was diagnosed in January and have had 2 periods since.

Was on the POP pill and had no periods at all and then it took 5 months to have my first period after I stopped taking the pill in August.

If you have PCOS can you please tell me how regular your periods are so that I can compare please and know what to expect. I am TTC and feeling very down. ;(

    Hi,

I have PCOS, too. Before I went on the pill, my periods ranged anywhere from 35-60 days. I never knew when, or if, I ovulated.

I stayed on the pill for over a year and was then put on 500mg a day of Metformin. About 3-4 months after going off the pill (but staying on Metformin), I fell pregnant (Probably due to the "sex every other day" technique).

I wish you the best of luck.

I used Depo Provera for five years and did not have any periods (common). After I stopped, I never got a regular period. After two years I was finally diagnosed with PCOS.

I usually get one or two periods PER YEAR and they are very light. Everyone is different.

I eventually started metformin and a low sugar diet, and lost twenty pounds in four months. I was still not ovulating so I took clomid and got pregnant on the first round. Women with PCOS usually respond well to metformin and clomid.

Good luck! I know how hard it can be!

I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 23 in 2001. Before that I didn't have regular periods for about 4 years. I was put on BCP and just recently came off of them in Jan. So far I have had regular periods but who knows if I am ovulating.

I am TTC also and feeling down sometimes as well. I try to think positive - there are many women with PCOS that have had BFPs! My RE tells me that she WILL get me pregnant if I need her help so maybe if you haven't, you should see a RE (reproductive endocrynologist.)

Good luck and baby dust your way!!!

I have PCOS, but the most I've gone w/o getting a period was 1 week. I immediatly went to my dr. and was diagnosed. She prescribed Metformin to help balance my hormones so I can get a regular period. It worked!!

Now I get my periods on time, give or take a day or 2.

I don't have pcos but my best friend does. She went 10 months without a period. They had to put her on some diabetic meds called metformin and she had to have some fertility drugs to get pregnant. She now has a happy healthy baby is hoping to try for another in the next couple of years

  • I have PCOS but remember every woman's body is different. You can't really compare anything when it comes to this. What's normal for me may not be normal for you and vice versa. My periods are what I'd consider irregular. They are coming every month now, but they come three to five days later sometimes. For instance, one month they may come on the 22nd. The next month it may come on the 27th. It may come on the 28th the next month, then it may push out to the 6th the following month.

It is hard NOT to feel down when you have PCOS. You have everyone else telling you to relax, that it will happen, etc. It's easy for them to say. They're not the ones who are experiencing problems getting pregnant. I would suggest going to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist if you haven't already. You also need to see your OBGYN.

Good luck! God will bless you with a baby if it's meant to be.

Once infertility has been diagnosed, there are a number of treatment options available depending on the root cause of the problem. Learn here https://tr.im/VIzfQ

Infertility is a condition defined as not being able to become pregnant after at least one year of unprotected, regular, well-timed intercourse. Women who suffer from multiple miscarriages may also be diagnosed as infertile. Infertility may be classified into two groups, primary and secondary infertility.
