Is there a fund established to help those poor religious folks fight the Texas Gestapo?

Update:

It appears many of you feel that the women and children, the possible victims, should be punished for what the men of the church probably did under their belief that God directed that sort of life. Interesting idea; punish the victims. As I said, it is religious persecution and no different then what we did to the indigenous Americans when we forced them to send their children to schools for indoctrination in mainstream thought. At least they are allowed to use drugs that are illegal for anyone else to use in their ceremonies. Polygamy should be treated the same way. I don't personally like the idea of polygamy nor do I like young girls being married off to older men like was common throughout the US in the 17-1800s but it is their Constitutional right to worship as they please. Should we go after the rattlesnake handling religion next since that is potentially dangerous and take their kids too? The mother/child bond is very strong and no good ever happens when it is broken.

Not that I know of. Let me know. I am from texas and am embarrased by the treatment of these people. They want to be there and there is not any proof of any abuse of children. Just a phone call from a 16 yr old who is nowhere to be found.

  • Wow. You are seriously mislead.

Religious freedom stops when the laws are violated. Sexual abuse of minors IS against the law. When you have 16 year old girls with three children, then a law was violated.

The authorities went into the compound in good faith, with what they thought at the time was a credible tip. When they saw the minors pregnant or with children, the jig was up - they had reasonable cause.

I don't think that FLDS is going to win this one with their cries of "religious persecution". They are going to lose this one, and there are some that are going to be joining Warren Jeffs in prison.

And I applaud the authorities in Texas for doing something to save the children!

These people are child molesters that thought they had built themselves a nice little bird nest on the ground.

They move the little girls from sect to sect and family to family. The little girls don't even know who their real mothers are. This way when the child molester needs to recharge his batteries, the new "so called" mother will gladly give up her little girl which she was being forced to care for anyway.

I know you liberals believe that if Bill Clinton was still in charge him and Janet Reno would have handled this much better.... now that I think about it they would have handled it different, Bill and Reno would have both joined the sect.

Oh, you mean keep the men raping 13 year olds, let them do as they wish to how ever many wives they want?

Get a grip, man. I feel terrible for these kids. They don't know any better.

You mean the bad people who won't let 50 year old men have sex with 14 year old girls ? I hardly see these polygamists as objects of sympathy.
