Why are atheists so worried about hearing proof that God exists?
Why don't they spend as much time in the myth section asking for proof that dragons once existed? R&S is supposed to be a section to help others understand different religions and even their own more. I don't see how asking people to prove something is helping anybody when A: atheists don't really care to hear the answer to whether valid or not and B: people who do believe in a god don't care about proof either seeing as how they know their beliefs are about faith, not proof. That's why it's called beliefs not proofs. It just seems to me that these people asking these prove it questions belong better in the section "I'm a close-minded b**ch and have to try to bring other people down to increase my self worth." Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with anybody. I just fail to see how asking for proof 1 million times is helping anybody, atheists included. Maybe it's just me though. And I bet at least 1 response will be "We'll keep asking until you prove it."

Well, mostly I think the "what proof do you have" argument is one that is generally used when the atheist is tired of arguing because whomever tehy are debating with won't hear out the toher side. I'm not being stereotypical or anything. Please, get that. It's jsut been my experience that if you are speaking religion as an atheist and someone rather religious, it is very, very hard to get to the other side to take you seriously and not be a total dick towards you. Whether you are an atheist or faithful church goer. Speaking as an atheist, I've never actually used that argument while having said debate with a few of my friends who are really, really religious. In my opinon, "where's your proof" holds about a much effect with an atheist using it, as a religious person using "you don't see or feel gravity, yet you haven't floated away" [which really irritates me because you wouldn't just 'float away' without gravity, but thats another topic all together]. And, not to be rude, but atheists are generally more open minded than people who are big into religion. Not all of them, but from what I've seen, thats the way the tables are turned. If it bothers you so much that atheists need proof to be content with life, then just ignore them. According to you all us atheists will burn anyhow, so just tough it out for a bit and then you can be all peaceful in atheist-free heaven. Really, I didn't meant to be offensive in this, I'm sorry if I was. Honestly, I am. I was jsut trying to voice my opinion.

atheists are such mindless sheep. Yes this question has been asked a million times before, but could an atheist say anything more relevant than the standardized "no need to prove a negative," and "pascal's wager." By the by, I've never actually heard a good comeback to date regarding pascal's wager, all I ever heard was that it was pascal's wager, so obviously it is invalid. But once again, Christians: 0, Atheists: 1/2 (the half signifies the actual existence of some intelligence, and the Christians get 1/2 because they're at least pointed in the right direction, however they get -1/2 because their religion.)

That's because God is real and there is undeniable proof. Your own sense of happiness and self worth after administering your life to the one true god.
I have experienced God for 5 years now. I have undeniable belief that it was this devotion that saved my life, made me a happy individual, and gave me a perfect life. I'm not bragging, I'm simply stating my fact. The only reason it is considered a belief at all is because I can't prove to you that my life is perfect. But I can say it is. Even though I care deeply about what is going on in the world, and I'm especially worked up and infuriated concerning this years political elections, I can honestly still say that my life is perfect. Before I started to meditate and believe in God I could not say my life was even worth living. Now it's perfect. Coincidence? I think not. Delusions? Certainly not. I was deluded before, now I know the truth. And what is funny is that since people call me a loonie, I KNOW I am right. It is because people doubt me that I gain my faith. Through their doubt I strengthen my own convictions. So I say to all, God exists because it is the perfection within one's mind, the inner soul of your own being, the ultimate eternal reality. I will be waiting for the doubt to come and you can disprove it all you want, but so far none of your claims have stood ground.
Circular logic is still the best way of understanding God.
The bible is still a powerful religious message centered on delusions of grandeur.
My God still exists.
Richard Dawkins still is a rational guesser.
And above all, the corruption that Christianity inevitably draws in is criticized by the very atheist movement. The will of God has been declared, the atheists punish those who deserve punishment while the true christians continue their contemplation of God.
And for all those who feel left out, I emplore you: read a book other than Christianity, be it Buddhism, Hinduism, Upanishads, Baghavad Gita, Boethius, Plotinus, Shankara, Yogananda, Yoga sutras, etc.
Then meditate. You'll know what I'm talking about.

Well, I think the reason atheists keep asking for proof is that theists keep asking for "proof" that the theories of science are accurate.
Also, many theists state the existence of their deity is a fact. If it is a "fact" it requires proof - that's basically the definition of a fact. If you believe it comes down to faith and not fact then I have no quarrel with you.

They are not so worried about hearing proof that God exists. They need to go get really TRUE understand that God exist so far not single religious people can proof them with a SPEECH OF GREAT SIGNIFICANCE to the REALISTIC FACTUAL

I'm open to the idea that a "greater power" may exist. However, I believe things when shown cold, hard proof. I mean, for all you know, I could be a rich prince of some African nation. Would you believe me?

When believers claim that god exists for a fact, it needs to be backed up with proof, otherwise they are simply saying 'fact' without any basis in reality.
Nobody in mythology is claiming that dragons exist or existed for a fact. That's the simple and glaringly obvious difference.
EDIT: Harry P is deluded. He seems to believe that if one atheist lies, then all atheists are liars...... From this extremely warped and incorrect use of logic, I can deduce that he is probably a believer. Of course, we've only got his word that he was emailed anyway.

Why don't you go live your life based on a 2000 year old fairy tale, and the words of a delusional man who happened to think god was talking to him, and stop stonewalling.
You and your kind are bunch of idiots.

"We'll keep asking until you prove it."
And what's wrong with that response? People who believe in dragons or myths aren't running enormous, resource consuming organizations to control people's lives through fear or passing legislation to restrict the lives of those who don't follow their superstitions; I wouldn't give two sh**s about religion if it didn't stick its nose into everyone else's lives.
Now, I will take advice from, say, the Surgeon General on cigarettes. Why? Because when they say that something's not good for you to do, they actually go through the trouble to prove that they know what they're talking about.
So, religion has two options. They can either prove that they know what they're talking about and THEN start trying to intrude their beliefs on others' lives, or they can shut up and keep to themselves and then not have to worry about proving anything.
