Jeep Wrangler...Gas Mileage do these two belong in the same sentence? Driving style (lead foot or no) and City/ highway miles are the greatest factors on fuel economy, barring the fact that someone altered the drive train, tires, or engine. Yes these cars get poor gas mileage. It is not about the petrol though, if you own one and keep it for longer than a year. Tire pressure can cause bad economy, as well as other performance / maintenance problems. If you are unaware of your jeep's mechanical condition, you will soon have bigger problems. These cars are finicky and require a loving individual who will be in tune with the needs of the jeep. Are you one of these? It could be that you just don't love your jeep enough. P.S. Sorry dude, there are some 4.0 v8's out there but any 4.0 you find in a jeep will be that inline 6. If you don't love jeeps then you just won't understand

Although most people think that the Jeep's are tiny and get good gas mileage, they are opposite. My mom's 2007 Tahoe gets better mileage than my Wrangler. I have a 2004 and the new 2007-2008 are suppose to get better but I highly doubt it. Jeep's no matter what engine seem to get the exact same mileage. My 2004 gets average 13 city and 16 highway (automatic). My girlfriend's dad has a 79 Wrangler and gets 14 city and around 17 highway (stick).
So I would assume that the new Jeeps would get the same thing, since they are so boxy and not very aerodynamic at all expect to get 14 city and 17 highway depending on driving habits.

Ill give you the short answer without just copying and pasting from a website. If you do a lot of city driving, you are gonna get terrible mileage. Jeeps are pretty much big boxes moving down the road. Highway driving is a little better, as long as your not pushing the car. Keeping them around 55-60 mph, you can get excellent mileage. I own a 2001 Cherokee, and I've learned how to drive it with fuel efficiency in mind, you can do it to.
