Did you hear about the big celebration in Chicago?
CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- An epidemic of gunfire rattled the city during the weekend, with at least 32 people shot and six killed.
Police Superintendent Jody Weis blamed an excess of guns.....
"There are just too many weapons here,"
Too many guns, too many gangs."
Notice the first thing blamed was guns.
This occurred on the anniversary of a similar event in 2007. Maybe they will call it, "The second annual drive by (chile) shootout".
If people in Chicago had jobs and a decent neighborhood to live in there would not be incidents like this.
Improving peoples lives would do far more good than threatening to lock them up if they break the law.
Guns are not the problem, but there are many in our society who would love to see them all locked up.
In the course of history, every society that was convinced to surrender weapons become oppressed and abused. Lets correct what is wrong with society and keep guns in the hands of the law abiding where they belong.
Sorry for the sarcasm with the drive by comment but sometimes people DO make a bad situation worse by foolish and ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR.
I admit guns make it easier to commit violence but if there weren't any guns the gangs would resort to knives, spears, bows and arrows, chains, ball bats, Molotov cocktails.
The problem is a lack of hope for a better future. Lock up all the guns and the problems that cause the violence would still be there.
Cure the disease and the symptoms go away.

I completely agree with you. Guns are not the problem, the society, the environment, the breeding grounds for all of this disease.
The government is trying to take the easy way out, the easy solution, which is not the solution at all. They should use all those big bucks they get paid in salary, and come up with a way to change the violence in the streets, in our communities. Changing the neighborhoods into livable environments.
And Mari good thing you weren't invited. You may have a souvenir or two to take home from the hospital.
