i know how i want my daughter's hair cut,but i don't know how to explain it. i can't find a pic.what can i do?

i had it cut like this once before, but i did it myself and kind of did a hack job on it. i'm not putting her through that again. after i got it fixed it looked really really cute. but i'm afraid to try that again. i've tried to explain how i want it to several different stylists, but no one ever cuts it right. they always end up making her look like dorothy hamill. that's not the kind of 'mushroom' cut she wants. she wants it cut like a friend of her's but we don't have a pic of her friend and the stylist doesn't know that girl (as she lives several hours away from us). do ya see my delima... oh, did i mention she's 5 and very independent?

Mom you are fretting, relax!! If your daughter's friend has a camera & internet, get them to take some pictures and send to you so you can take to the stylist.

Do a search on the internet for pictures of various styles to get some idea particularly keyword children hairstyles? Sounds like a 'bob' is what you are looking for, try looking for graduated or reverse bob cuts.

Are you any good with sketching? If so, sketch your ideas for the stylist!! Some of the larger salons have books of hairstyles, give that a try also.

Don't be shy to tell the stylist the cut is not what we want in a diplomatic manner. Remember they are not mind readers. Oh, consider a beauty school to do the job; usually it is cheaper and the cut is monitored by professional teachers and they will bend over backwords to get it right.

    Good luck.
