What is wrong with the UFC?
I saw the ppv on Sunday, it put me to sleep. Now Shogun is not going to fight Chuck Liddell, replaced by Rashad Evans, but there's a problem Liddell won't fight anymore, he is injured. LOL All of these UFC fighters always getting injured training. Boxing is more exciting, they give fans non stop action all 12 rounds. UFC, those guys are on the floor for entire rounds putting people to sleep ( YOU CANNOT DENY IT), that's why people are booing when they do. UFC is just a fad.

i'm a huge fan of both mma and boxing and it is true that at times there are some boring mma fights but the same can be said for boxing. Did you happen to catch calzaghe vs. hopkins this past weekend? yikes, that was a yawner(still not as bad as starnes vs. quarry though)

Liddell isn't fighting because he ripped his hamstring. He isn't fighting because of an injury. That happens in every sport, and if you deny that, you're not a sports fan.
If you don't understand or enjoy the ground game portion of MMA, that doesn't mean that it isn't exciting or here to stay. You need to pay more attention instead of going in with a closed mind. MMA fans don't boo during the ground game. In fact, that's usually when it gets the most technical and people cheer with every move and near submission.
And for you to say that people are booing at an MMA event because they are being put to sleep but defend boxing is insane. I'm a boxing fan- and can say that I USED to be a HUGE boxing fan. But that's exactly what pushed me away- the lack of action. MMA is what boxing was- a sport full of guys who are in it for the love and respect of the sport. There is not a champion in UFC, EliteXC, StrikeForce, or any other MMA organization that won't fight anyone, anytime. There's no excuses, there's no argument over who will make a bigger portion of the PPV money, or who will come to the ring first.
Boxing is now full of people who strive to be the best, and once they make it, hand pick their fights and refuse to fight the best. And once they are in the ring, do nothing but run in circles and refuse to exchange. That's standard practice in boxing and while the fans boo and the announcers complain, boxing does nothing about it. That happens one time in UFC and look what they did, they immediately cut that fighter (Kaleb Starnes). Did you watch the Hopkins fight Saturday night?? He FAKED being hit with low blows twice! He took a nearly 5 minute break after a punch to the stomach! They showed him a replay and TOLD him that he wasn't hit with a low blow and he kept lying about it! How many times did he hit with late punches, head butts, and punches where the ref couldn't see? That's respect? That's sportsmanship?? That's boxing??
MMA fighters have respect for the sport and each other. As you can see by the hand shakes and hugs in the ring after every match. There's a lot more respect and honor in MMA than in nearly any other sport.
You may think that UFC and MMA is a fad, but look at the numbers. UFC PPVs do more business year round than nearly every boxing event. I beg you to watch ANY heavyweight boxing match and come back here and post how exciting the "non-stop" action was for 12 rounds!

The only boring match was Starnes vs. Quarry because Starnes was running away the whole fight. If you don't find grappling exciting then don't watch a sport that features it. And the reason fighters get injured in training is because of the intensity of the training plus it's surprisingly easy to cause serious damage when you put in a submission properly and quickly. If you don't like the UFC, don't watch it and let everyone else enjoy it. You don't see me on the boxing board blabbing about all the dancing around and tie ups that serve no purpose except for stalling. If you don't believe that boxing can have boring fights, watch a Lennox Lewis match. It's stronger than valium.

I've been a boxing fad my whole life, and I have supported the UFC since the originals. The problem I have with boxing is that these guys take years to put the best fights on, like Cotto vs. Mayweather, are we ever going to see that or what? And the problem I have with the UFC is the every other card sucks, like the last one was horrible and they should not even be charging for that. The best thing is to do is if you don't like the card then don't order it, that will force them to step it up.

You have to ask yourself this simple question.
What do you know about groundfighting?
If the answer is not a lot, then I'm not surprised. It's like criticising chess without ever having played a game or understood the intricasies in it.
I'm both a boxing and MMA fan, and yes, I also think Boxing is more exciting, simply because I find striking more exciting than ground-fighting. But you have to understand that opinion can differ. Saying Boxing is more entertaining is like saying vanilla icecream is better than strawberry. It's just an opinion.
But MMA pros aren't primarily meant to entertain. That is apparently what you seem to be judging them on. They're meant to fight in the most effective manner possible, within the rules, and that will inevitably include ground-fighting. MMA is far superior to boxing as a martial art and self-defense(YOU CAN'T DENY IT).
I don't find ground-fighting boring. It can get me pretty excited at times too. I'll often find myself screaming ARMBAR at the telly when I watch it.
Non-stop action? It stop and starts 11 times. UFC only does so twice. Longer periods. More time for action.

Funnily enough they were saying that UFC was just a fad...12 years ago.
UFC is coming off two very strong years in 2006 and 2007 with more good cards than bad, it might look like 2008 is not going to be a vintage year but tell me, when was the last time pro boxing had 2 straight years of mostly good cards?

i dont think that any boxing fans enjoy watching all 12 rounds, they wanna see a knockout, you can get that by watching the UFC though, theres a guaranteed knockout or 2 in every event, you just have to know wuts goin on to be able to enjoy the groundgame, im tellin you for a fact you wouldnt last 2 seconds fighting on the ground with a newcomer/amateur mma fighter

Are you serious?? How can say boxing is more exciting... The fighters no longer box to win. All they do is try to survive the rounds. In the UFC they know that their pay is largely based on inning the fight, so they USUALLY give 100% in their bouts. And when they don't they get the boot (Calib Starnes).

I also like boxing more than UFC however I became a fan of the UFC as well. The UFC is for people who like all aspects of combat sports. You might just like only the boxing which is fine cause everyone has their own taste.

You know why it puts you to sleep? Because you are like 75% of the rest of the fans that are absolutely clueless about what goes on in grappling. If you prefer fights never go to the ground you should be watching kickboxing. In other words, the problem is not with the UFC, the problem is with you.

Your uneducated about the ground game and only watch MMA because you have heard it's the fastest growing sport today.
The PPV was on Saturday and the only bad fight was Starnes and Quarry and Quarry tried to entertain the crowd.
12 rounds of excitement in boxing? you must have missed the snooze fest that was Vladimir Klitchko a couple of weeks ago, or just about any Floyd Mayweather fight.
In boxing Mayweather is praised for running away (hell it wins him all his fights) Starnes was deducted points for it and lost his contract.
MMA isn't for everybody and a "fan" like you won't be missed.
