Why should the Government pay for your college?

You know the government IS paying for mine...kinda. I get federal loans but I have to pay them back. The assbag Obama wants to pay for college outright so the gov'mnt can control more of what is taught.

He's a douchebag Socialist like the rest of them.

Because they make an extreme amount of money off the people. The least they can do is educate them on how this actually happens. Everyone should be entitled to an education. A free education. It is the only way to get the best out of every individual. Otherwise many many people will just go to waste. Which is exactly what they want because it is how their whole system works. You gotta have the dumb people for the system to work. If everyone was educated no one would be doing the crap jobs now would they? Riddles and roundabouts but really it's all pretty straight down the line.

At the end of WWII the GI Bill gave war vets free college educations. Partly because of that, the 50s and 60s were the best times we ever had in this country. We had the highest standard of living in the world. We developed just about all the new technology in the world--medical science, missiles and space, satellite communications, semiconductors, aviation, you name it. All because we had the highest percentage of college graduates in the world.

A person getting a BA degree will pay taxes in his career that are many many times what his education cost. Every other developed country recognizes this and makes a college education free to anyone who can qualify and then keep his grades up.

OTOH we have more people in prison than any country on earth, now >1%. You pay more to keep those people in prison than you would to put them through an Ivy League school. If we had better education (as our competitors do) maybe we would have many fewer people in prison (as our competitors do).

the only way its gonna happen, is with a ROTC scholarship ROTC itself does not pay for college. ROTC scholarships are aggressive IE: you want a super GPA, SAT/ACT score, activities purely like a number of different scholarship. 2. in any different case, you would be able to desire to serve first to earn those advantages.

Because they have allowed corporate America to export all of our low skilled jobs (and imported cheap labor) to the point that a college degree is REQUIRED to make a livable wage.

Wish they had paid for me to go, I had to pay for every bit of education I was able to obtain!

If you are handing out money for college, my son needs some. It is costing us almost $6,000.00 each semester. That is for housing, tuition, books, etc.. No free lunches here.

I would rather they lower taxes and not provide it and let me keep more of my own money.

A government that has the power to give you everything has the power to take it all away.

Even the founding fathers believed in educating the populace.

They shouldn't.
