Simple answer: NO.
Rice production far exceeds the need. Besides a starch product such as rice has many alternatives that people can pick when the price begins to get too high.
Liberals are NEVER happy when things are well. Liberal, especially the LIBERAL MEDIA, will always put a spin on anything to make it "news worthy" in their mind and it usually is not as bad as they make it out to be.
If you remember the CNN "on the spot" reporter that was reporting from "knee deep" flood waters and then the camera person slipped and shot her feet -- they were on DRY land and the "water" was on the background and people were wading through "ankle deep"! LOL

What are you talking about... Just at the store and they are not rationing rice or any other food now. They are talking about if they had to how they would go about doing it. Yes the cost of food and the fact our growing of grains has gone down is scary but we are not there yet. Wow gloom and doom.
The end of days is near!!!
Run for the hills and build a bunker in the mountains. Store your food and buy all the canned food you can... bottled water and gasoline also...

It's about time the government stepped in and slapped our (Americans) big fat gluttonous hands. God knows WE can't control how much we eat on our own.
How embarrassing!
Maybe now Chinese Restaurants will stop automatically bringing it to the table so we can ignore it and they can then throw it out. It's shameful how we waste in this country. Again, it's about time!

I seen that on the news and i am stocking what i can as i have kids.I used to laugh at buying a 25 pound of rice' but that['s what i will be getting from now on. no lol about it.
