Why is it when I go into the store, like clothing shop, the clerks ignore me?

Most of the places, they won't greet me by saying "Hello" or "Hi" or whatever, like they do to the other 'clearly western looking' people. I just went to Japan and 100% of the people at the store greeted me with a big smile. Why is this? What's wrong with this picture? By the way, they show the smile and greet when I am with my mom-in-laws. So...am I nothing to them?

Update:

I am an Asian and I have a good hygiene, Tori.

I am beginning to think that some people, including myself, are invisible. When I walk into a car dealership's display room and no one speaks to me for 15 minutes when I turn around and leave, or when I am in a department store and people walk into me, step back and say, "Oh. Excuse me, I didn't see you."

I am white, & 6'8". Am I invisible? Maybe you are, too.

The happens to me, though curiously, not all the time. It comes and goes.

When a clerk finally sees that s/he HAS to tend to me, I might ask something like, "Is this a bad time?"

It's very annoying and I hate the thought of having to be on the defensive.

It's because you smell bad probably.
