The hardware may have been installed automatically but do you have an installation disk for the web cam which may contain BETTER drivers than windows has supplied?

Certainly ignore the advice Rob has given you as you many end up woth more problems...this action is not to be taken lightly.

Best suggestion is to unistall the webcam until you have resolved a few issues arising from the webcam installation.

I had the same problem so did my son and daughter when they tried to install a webcam. Common problem apparently...though the makers would have you believe it is plain sailing...this is simply not true.

Anyway I would ask advice from an expert who maybe able to pin point the cause straight away.

What version of windows are you running?

You can get this problem if you are running some xp products on vista as i have found out previously when i had to do a full system restore!!!!!

I know this sound like I'm saying you're a moron, but did you try to unplug the webcam before turning it on?

Press F10(or is it F8...?) while Windows is loading. Then choose system restore.
