Why are people turning the NYPD shooting into a racial thing?
I read in the article concerning the shooting of the 23 year old, unarmed man in NYC that the detectives were acquitted. People were screaming KKK! when the detectives were leaving the courtroom. My questions is, why are people making racial comments when one of the officers was black? How is it racially motivated?

I don't think this should be compared to Amadou Diallo. He was an innocent bystander, who did absolutely nothing wrong. I found that case to be much more upsetting than this.
This man RAMMED his car into the police vehicle. It was undercover, true, but he still made a terribly foolish decision that may have precipitated his own death. Should he have been shot so many times? Absolutely not!! The police made a grave mistake, but I don't think it had ANYTHING to do with race.
Only ONE of the officers was white!! Two were black, one was middle eastern, and one was biracial (black/hispanic)!! The officer who fired FIRST was black. So I don't really know why this is being made such a racial issue. I suppose because it CAN be, it is.

It's more about how the courts system is discriminatory and less about the race of the officers. The officers getting cleared is nothing more than "good job" from the NY court system. I'm not surprised though. I believe those officers that sodomized Abdul Louima at the police station got off to.
Maybe you're unclear of how long the were shooting at unarmed people. They were emptying clips and reloading.
When an un-armed white guy gets shot 50 times by the police after leaving the tavern drunk we'll have something to compare it to.

2 officers were black. As for why, well, it's convenient to drop the card when things don't go your way. Imagine if whites or Hispanics (or any race other than African American, for that matter) played the race card. Nothing would get done in this country for fear of later appeasement to some race or another. IF this really was an illegal shooting *which is a moot point now, since the judge ruled it justifiable*, then the officers, regardless of race, were wrong, and should've been punished. I hate that so many in America think, heck, they're convinced, some racist boogieman is gonna get them. It's ludicrous.

IT SHOULDN''T BE CONSIDERED RACIAL....BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS ...
AND JUST BECAUSE THERE WAS A BLACK OFFICER DOESN'T MEAN NOTHING WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THAT BLACK COP IF HE WENT AGAINST THE WHITE COPS THAT'S WHAT YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING AT
NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE SAY OR THINK I BELIEVE THAT COPS THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BADGE AND A GUN THEY ARE ABOVE LAW......WHY IS IT I GOT A TICKET WHEN I WAS ON THE CELL WITH MY SITTER(by the way she called me that she was in the ER with my son) the cop didn't WANT TO HEAR IT AND TICKETED ME AND I HAD TO SHUT MY MOUTH BUT YET EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY I SEE COPS DRIVING WITH THEIR CELL ON THE EAR WHEN EVERY PATROL CAR HAS A RADIO.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE MY NEIGHBOR DOWNSTAIRS IS A COP. QUIET AROUND MY BUILDING ON THE WEEKEND DOESN'T EXIST THERE IS AN ORDINANCE AROUND HERE I CALL THE COPS AT 4 AM DO THEY SHOW UP HELL NO INSTEAD THEY CALL THE NEIGHBOR AND SAY THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN A COMPLAINT ...WHAT HAPPENS THE NOISE GETS LOUDER FOR ANOTHER HOUR AND THAN IT STOPS .
THERE ISN'T RACIAL OH HONEY YES BUT NOT ONLY ON BLACKS
IT'S NOT COLOR RACIAL IT IS COPS VERSES PEOPLE

Since the Clinton 1990's, EVERYTHING is made into a racial issue, usually by liberals and minorities. They don't really address problems, they just throw the race card at it.
They hit an unmarked police car, all of the guys involved in the situation had records, and they were coming out of a seedy strip club. WAKE UP! The verdict, for once, was the correct one.
Well said Zinger! I have used the expression "Cry Wolf" to refer to minorities using the race card many times. It is so true!

You mean you don't know? The equation is simple: Any time a white person does something "bad" to someone who is African-American, it's racism. Doesn't matter what the facts and circumstances are, it's whitey oppressing the blacks. There can NEVER be any other reason for it.

I hate this. When it is a black man killed it is always recism involved. It shouldn't be. The stupid reverands try to pit these to races against eachother every chance they get. It wasn't racism! As i recall wasn't there a black cop with them. This gives the crime ridden black communities an exuse as to why the troubled youth are killed. The race card justs gives people and excuse to under acheiving.

This whole verdict is so racist. I hope the Rev.s Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton protest the heck out of this.

The race card works for the Blacks and the US propaganda machine (i.e., mainstream media). They have used it to their advantage for decades. However, I believe people are becoming sick of the concept in that the Blacks have cried 'wolf' one too many times.

Have you heard of a white man shot that many times lately?
for blacks it is a close resemblance of Amadou Diallo
(PS my statement was based on the observation not the moral judgment of who was right and wrong. People seem to put it in another light. 51 shots sounds like an excessive number and I do not recall any white man dying in this kind of hail of bullets. People rarely look at the details like whether the police officer was black or not... etc. Main focus is on the victim and number of shots.
There is a bigger issue of crime statistics where blacks overwhelmingly have more chance to get in prison, but this is a catch 22. )
