He is 3, help! (lOOk)?
My son is 3 and we have been potty training with NO luck really until it got nice outside really! He can pee everytime you ask and if he is outside he will just drop em and go!
The problem is #2! He will get a pull-up and put it on himself, then do his business. I have caught him putting them on and take it away and go to the potty, he refuses to go!
Also I have bought all the potty seats he would never use them, he will sit to pee, mostly stands up!
I need some new Ideas......don't be sarcastic please! I answer everyones questions nicely!
He only wears the pull ups when we are out and to bed. So I can't just get rid of them! He goes to work with me and at some point in my day there is no potty available for about 2 hours!
Thanks!
I would rather him go outside than in his pants! We live in a sort of secluded area where I grew up and all of the neighbors are very understandable, one of which is my own grandmother! I would like for him to stop but at this point I am not going to punish him for trying to stay dry! I give him credit really!
He is 3 and just now wanting to potty train!
Keep in mind I have a daughter that was potty trained at 18 months!
She was easy and that is why I am sort of at my wits end with him!
He has many underwear that he picked..
Spongebob, Cars etc. whatever he wanted! He does not potty in them!

Potty training can be very frustrating. Boys do tend to be more stubborn about it (I speak from experience with 4 kids).
Here are some ideas that worked for my daughter. We had her trained and done within 3 weeks. Keep in mind though, my sons took nearly a full year before they were consistent.
Potty bag: We got her a brightly colored gift bag and filled it with inexpensive prizes such as stickers, toy cars, coloring books, etc. Every time she went IN the potty (NOT in a pull up or anywhere else) she got to choose ONE thing from the potty bag. Keep it up and out of reach and he'll understand that you or your DH are "keeper of the potty bag". Clearly reiterate the rules: Potty IN the potty, NOT in a pull up, etc.
Let him run around the house with no pants on. Bare butt worked well and my DH was afraid she'd just go on the floor but she didn't. We put her in long dresses or long shirts, etc.
We did not use pull-ups...went right to regular underwear. We made it a big deal and let her choose her own to wear. Pull ups are really no different than diapers to them. We only use pull ups at night, no other time.
If he is grabbing them to go to the potty, put them out of his reach and make the expectations clear. You will have to repeat yourself a gazillion times but eventually, he'll get it.
Good luck!

I know this isn't the answer you want, but you need pitch the pull-ups. If you want him to poop in the potty, you can't continue giving him another option.
If there is a two-hour period in your day when he has no access to a bathroom, then it may be that you need to find someone else to watch him for those two hours. It's unfair to expect a preschooler to hold it for that long -- and it's totally counter-productive to put him in pull-ups if he's finally taking an interest in using the potty by himself.

SOUNDS LIKE HE IS PROGRESSING WELL, BOYS ARE DIFFICULT, JUST BE PATIENT, HE'S GETTING THERE, HE HAS THE CONTROL, MAYBE TRY PUTTING A POTTY SEAT OUTSIDE FOR HIM, SINCE HE IS OK WITH GOING OUT THERE, BUT YOU AND HIM ARE DOING WELL, MY SON WAS NOT READY COMPLETELY TILL HE WAS 4 1/2, AND IT HELPED TO BE POTTY TRAINING MY YOUNGEST.

i would keep him in regular underwear. i dont think kids like the feeling of being wet. tell him no more pull ups until he uses the toilet. and as far as outside, i would discipline him the minute he did that. that is not tolerable in my book. put him in a time out immediately or take something he likes away.

my 3 daughters were no problem getting them potty trained...but my son was terrible...it turns out according to my mum who cracked it..my son just didnt wanna do it infront of or nearby anybody or anything..he was very shy about it even at 3 yrs old .....strange i know....... but you just keep being a fantastic good mum...to him and he will find his confidence very soon to do it . so keep giving him all the good vibes that hes doing really really good, and then your hurdle is over until the next hurdle comes. But please dont beat yourself up...its just a hurdle. good luck x

Get rid of the pullups/diapers completely. He knows that he can mess in one of those. If there are no more pullups in the house, he will have to use the toilet.

Try the under wear? It helped with my oldest.
