    let's take "D" as the dominant trait and "d" as the recessive trait

    Genotype of the man: Dd

    Genotype of the woman: dd

    use a punnet square for this

    Possible genotypes of children: Dd and dd

    Possible phenotypes of children: some with have dimples while some will have none

    Probability of dimples in their children:

    Dd - 50% probability

    dd - 50% probability

    Heterozygous means you have two different alleles. So, if the gene for dimples is D, then the dominant allele is D and the recessive allele (no dimples) is d. So, the man is Dd and the woman is dd. If they have children, the children are:

    Dd x dd

    Dd (dimples) or dd (no dimples)

    The probability is that half of the children will have dimples, the other half won't.
