What's the "best" sized wire, in gauges, would be good to run my 2 12" subs?

I have 2 MTX Thunder Series, and a 1200watt amplifier by Volgenhaff. I was wondering what the best or a good size to use, to get good sound quality and connection for the subs to be fully powered.

    i use at least 12 gauge to my subs

    prob 12 guage for th speaker wire and 2 guage for the power wire from the battery. just go get a 2 guage amp kit and that will be big enough. but that is if your saying its 1200 watts rms and not peak. if its peak youd be fine with a 4 guage amp kit
