Symptoms after a stroke, Left side paralyzed, but better now except my left arm feels as if it is overworked,?

and tired from doing nothing. It often rests in my lap rather than doing something. The stiffness and tired feeling is all the time for 2 years. Moving my sleep position affects the way the arm feels. I feel as if I have no strength. Attempts at excersize have not helpped. Physical Therapy helpped for a while, but improvements stopped after 6 months. I can walk unaided, but with difficulty as my left leg does not resond very well either. I can use my left arm for some things, but not reaching or holding onto things for very long. When reaching, the arm waivers all about. I cannot hold keyboard keys very long as the fingers begin to wiggle, then jump off the keys. My slow walk is often a problem when the left leg will not come off the ground as if it was stuck there with glue. This messes with my momentum and I nearly fall due to the errant left foot. Please no answer if you do not have a direct answer to my question. I hope for a neurologist to answer.

Update:

I can do exercises, but it seems as if no help. I have not been able to raise my left hand above my ear with the elbow bent. All attempts to lift my hand above my head with elbow bent seem impossible. As I reach past my ear, the muscles quiver and quit working. Out straight, I can lift above my head, quickly.

Update 2:

I do continue to try various exercises for the arm, but to no avail. It seems after all this time and efforts, something else must be wrong.

Dan P, remember the old saying "if you don't use it you loose it" same here, remember the exercises your physical therapist was doing with you and keep at them, same goes for your leg, exercise them as much as possible and if they hurt just remember that you can feel that pain and that is good, I had the same with a metal hip was put into me and it made one leg shorter than the other, but am getting there now

keep your chin up and keep doing those exercises, no-one will be bothered if you take a long time doing things or you make mistakes, just take your time and be yourself, to heck with what other people think, they don't know you or your problems or more importantly your achievements

    cheers

You did the right thing! Apparently, your Dad never discussed with you or other family members how he felt about going to a Nursing Home. Unfortunately, there are some horror stories regarding Nursing Homes. I had to put my Sister in a Nursing Home that came highly recommended, and I have lived to regret my decision . Sometimes we have to make do with what is at hand. I hope it works out for your Dad and for you. .
