Pablum, What age is okay?
Alright so the little girl is only 8 weeks old (just over actually)
she is eating 8-9 oz every 3hrs or so.
I know her little digestive systems not fully developed yet for straight pablum but..
would it be okay to give her a 1/2 breastmilk 1/2 pablum mix at this point??
now i have heard of other folks feeding their babies pablum at this age and had no issues, most ppl will do it to help their baby sleep through the nights, she on the other hand is doing well in that area. This concern is merely due to the amount of formula/breastmilk she consumes.
Thanks ahead of time for your input all :)
Like i said, she is already sleeping through the night, pretty much from 11pm to 5-6am which for us is through the night. It's really just curious how much she is eating, i thought perhaps giving some thickness to the milk might help :)
my wife does nurse directly the morning feed, normally the milk is pumped so that we can be assured she is eating a proper amount. during the day from about 5am -6am until 11pm or so she will eat 240ml (8-9oz) every 3 hours or so (seems like an awful lot to me)

No, it's best to wait until she's 4 months old before you give her any solids at all as her digestive system is not fully developed. People feeding solids to their babies now may not know what damage they have done until years later when the child develops problems. You can't expect a 2 month old baby to sleep through the night, she can't fill her little tummy enough to last that long!

What is pablum???
Breastmilk is best and it sounds like she is doing very well. I would not give anything other than the boob juice until she is 6 months old. That is what my Dr has said as well as I have read in a couple of baby magazines.
I would not worry about how much she is eating.....if she is not spitting up a lot she is digesting it and she needs it. She is after alll a growing girl. I would not change anything at this point.

NO!!!
It won't help her sleep. Her tummy is the size of her fist, how long do you think a teaspoon of pablum would fill her up?
Eating every 3 hours is NORMAL!!!
There is NOTHING in the Pablum that she would benefit from. What she needs is to nurse as often as she needs.

If most of the breast milk is expressed, it may not be the best quality if your wife is using a pump, especially if it's an electric one. She'll have lots of milk, but may be poor quality. The way to produce the best milk is to let baby feed at the breast. This way, the milk will be better quality and make sure she drains each breast before offering the other as the milk at the end has the most calories and will fill her up more. It can be frustrating not knowing exactly how much she gets, but remember - she'll let you know if she's hungry! As long as she gains weight she will be fine. You should trust in nature. It really is amazing!

8-9 oz is allot for her to eat right now, but however at 8 weeks old formula and breast milk is all she should have right now
i'd wait till she was 3-4 months before you give her pablum

When my baby started eating 40 + oz a day, I started rice cereal with a spoon. She was about 3 months and weighed 14 pounds, 24 inches long.

1) Are you nursing directly at all?
2) How much breastmilk and how much formula does she drink in 24 hours?
I'm just trying to make sure I am giving you proper advice

Why bother? The quicker you feed cereals, the more likely she is to have digestive problems...12 weeks is recommended for cearels to be slowly introduced.
