Did prophet Muhammed order the killing of his opponent?

There is a story in Sahih Bukhary about prophet Muhammed who asked his companions if any of them would volunteer to kill someone (with the name of Ka'ab Ibn Al Ashraf) who used to oppose prophet Muhammed. The story tells that three of prophet Muhammed companions volunteered to KILL the man and they went to him after his wedding and CUT HIS HEAD and returned to prophet Muhammed with the man's head with them. When prophet Muhammed saw the man's head he cheered and thanked god.

This is the story from Sahih Bukhary in its original Arabic language:

Why did prophet Muhammed (who had all the wonderful teachings) send his companions to kill that man?

Honestly and I don't mean to insult anyone or any belief, but after studying the historical Muhammad and the genesis of Islam, I can't prove it but I think he was mentally ill, post traumatic stress can manifest in many ways including depression and schizophrenia and he was severely traumatized by the age of six. He may have even been epileptic. My dad used to have gran mal seizures and afterwards he'd be in a trancelike state, sleepwalking type, not lucid. Muhammad married his first wife because I think he was looking for a mother figure. His died when he was six and his wife Kadija was about 20 years older than him.

Source(s): Besides learning about Muhammad, I am very well versed in mental illness and a witness to epileptic seizures.

This question just proves to me that Islam is divided almost as much as the Christian religion.

When I first started looking into Islam , the first step was to purchase a good English translation of the Koran, then after numerous question to many worthy folk led me to believe that I could not possibly understand the true meaning without a real understanding of the Arabic language, OK I believed that, up to a point.

Then I came upon a book titled 40 Hadiths, these were very impressive, just odd things that the Muslim prophet said at various times , and were recorded on bits of palm leafs or clay, or whatever, but were written as spoken!!

Right so I had now weighed it all up, I knew what I was talking about!

I knew nothing, I found out that there were about 2000 of these Hadith things, many repetitive.

If you are really interested in an answer to your question then the faith of Islam is divided (not as much as the Christian religion , but still divided)

So go direct to your local Muslim 'teacher' and ask, they wont bite! I have tried it.I'm atheist. Never tried to push my point of view, just want to know what makes it all tick.

Muhammad himself declared that he replaced into the final prophet, yet is a obscure tale as a results of fact the Covenant of the Lord is barely for Israelites to time indefinite. Muhammad is basically in undemanding terms a warrior from historical Arabs. He did no longer even write the quran.

    Only one difference, Mustafa.

Then, the cutting head habit was not on Internet all over the world.

Now, the cuttings of the head ARE all over the world via Internet.

    Whatcha were saying Mustafa?

Back in those times- it seems there was a whole lot of bloodshed, and killing off of one's enemies!

I suppose people really haven't changed at all either- if it werent' for good law enforcement, I'd bet any money we'd see a lot more violence than we do now.

I never heard that hadith before, but I'm sure it either fabricated or altered...

Muhammed peace be upon him only killed those who killed Muslims.

Mohammed founded his theocracy with the sword. It is a political system, not a religion.
