What was so disturbing for me is that the judge found that the officers were groosly incompetent, but not guilty of murder. However, if I act incompetently and go drink and drive and kill someone, I get involuntary manslaughter. Officers of the law should not be allowed to get away from their incompetence just because they have a badge. There is responsibility with that power and 50 shots is excessive!!!

"Police brutality" is whilst they use pointless rigidity. with the aid of fact it rather is pointless, it is not needed. yet whilst it is justified, then it is not "police brutality". Examples: The Rodney King beatings approximately two decades in the past have been got here upon to be pointless, and have been "police brutality". however the UC Davis activities presently (police pepper spraying protesters interfering with the police's responsibilities and encircling the police so as that they won't leave) became very had to disperse the protesters so the police might desire to accomplish their responsibilities (and the protesters are fortunate that each and all and sundry which got here about to them is the pepper spray).

I wish Mr Bell was still here to stand trial, but he isn't. Regarding brutality, the police were aquitted. That a judge feels pompas enough at add a savage remark during sentencing only confirms my personal belief that people of power seem to think their mouth is as important as their their intrepretation of the law.
What exactly are you looking for anyway?

Question: How can Bell said he was "gonna get his gun" when he was unarmed in the first place? Makes no sense. I smell a lie.
If Bell was White, the cops wouldn't have shot him (or at least not shot over 50 bullets) in the first place, because white suspects are not considered DANGEROUS compared to black or brown suspects.
And if Bell was White and was fatally shot by the police, those officers would've went straight to jail, no doubt.

The judge said that the officers were negligent but not guity, so I'm not sure how that works. Negligence implies guilt in this situation. I guess the judge needed a new Cadillac and probably got it.
I still don't know why the undercover officers haven't been asked to:
1) hand over their guns and be assigned to desk duty forever
or
2) hand over their badges and find a new line of work.
Either way, they should not be armed and on the street any longer.

A legally constituted trial found the cops not guilty.
What do you know about this case that the Judge did not?
You say it's been swept under the rug. How is being acquitted at trial sweeping anything under the rug?
What you mean is that since you do not agree with the verdict it has to be unfair and Unconstitutional..
Read the transcript and you will find that the Judge did what he had to do. His decision was fair.
The Judge made a very brave decision knowing how unpopular his decision would be with the Black community
and their propensity to riot when they don't get their way.

It just shows what the world is becoming.
Anyone's rights and life can be taken away in a flash.
EDIT:
All(anyone who is a lep) who are in favor of Sean Bell's life taken will give thumbs down.
All who are righteous and honest...will know what to do and think!

Law enforcement Nazi's are out of control in most cities. They operate with impunity and they do not care what happens to the citizens. Those who DO care are silenced and intimidated and coerced into "going along to get along." I live in the 4th largest city in the nation (Houston, Texas), and I am far more fearful of law enforcement in my city, and I live about four blocks from the heart of downtown. I watch as HPD beats and tasers homeless people who harm no one, and harass minority men who are only trying to get day-labor type jobs. I am disgusted by the state of our police department and terrified of their power. They are far more dangerous than most criminals in my neighborhood and far less likely to be punished for their criminal activity.

I am a white, and I am very upset with this verdict. It shows police can and will get away with anything. Over 50 shots were fired, before they stopped and killed a man. Pigs suck!

He had threatened to go get his gun. The police knew this. When he was told to put his hands up, and he tried to drive off, I say piss on him. He gave up his rights. I am tired of society trying to make the criminal (which he was by driving off if nothing else) into the victim. If he had no gun and would have put his damn hands up and followed the LAWFUL order, he would be alive today.
I do not care what color, gender, etc. If you are in that situation and you are told to put your hands up...DO IT!
Derrick...I respectfully disagree that the cops would have handled it differently if he were white, but the other issue is this. You said: How can Bell said he was "gonna get his gun" when he was unarmed in the first place? Two things:
1. He did not say WHERE he was going to get his gun. I mean, HE GOT INTO HIS CAR. His gun could have been there, or at home. This is unknown.
2. While at work one day, I had someone threaten to go get his gun out of his car and stick it in my face. So, not knowing if he had one, how would you react? (Personally, I broke his nose, his jaw and 6 teeth because I did not CARE if he had a gun in his car...he was not going to make it to his damn car.
