Good movie for Mother's Day???

We're having a BBQ followed by a backyard movie under the stars for Mother's Day...I'm trying to think of a good "mom themed" movie to show that would be suitable/fun for kids to watch too.

Any ideas?

Update:

Ha, I'm crackin up over the "Boogie Nights" suggestion :-D

I dunno...."Steel Magnolias" and "Terms of Endearment" are so freakin sad - I don't want everyone depressed! "Mrs. Doubtfire" is a pretty good one though.

Family 5: Our Top Movies for Mother's Day

Find more about holidays, mothers day, movies, motherhood, DVDs From the Disney Family Editors: These movies will make you laugh, cry, scream, and smile (kind of like your family) as they explore the different facets of being a mother. So you've had your brunch, received your flowers, and opened the adorable homemade cards from your kids. Now the little ones are slumbering peacefully (one can wish), and it's time for you to kick back and escape into some cinematic Mother's Day entertainment.

You could opt for Oscar-winner "Terms of Endearment" with its pitch-perfect mother-daughter characterization, or the classic tearjerker "Steel Magnolias." But be prepared with a double set of tissues for those.

So how about a different tack for Mother's Day films? Here are five films, from the well-known to the offbeat, that could hit just the right note.

    "The Incredibles"

For starters, if you're looking for a family-friendly movie to watch with the kids, "The Incredibles" from 2004 is a great pick. Kids love the action and the animation, while adults love the subtleties and satire, such as Syndrome's line, "You sly dog! You got me monologuing!" But it's Holly Hunter's character that makes "The Incredibles" a true mom flick. "Holly Hunter's super-attenuated super-mom is one of the toughest babes on film," Houston Chronicle movie critic Amy Biancolli opined.

    "Little Women"

You can also opt for nearly any version of "Little Women" to either watch with the family, or just for the parents. Check out Katharine Hepburn's "Little Women" from 1933, or the TV mini-series adaptation from 1978. If you're hungry for a contemporary take on the Louisa May Alcott classic, Winona Ryder's 1994 turn is a treat to watch too, as much for the sister's story as for the sweet romance with Gabriel Byrne.

    "I Remember Mama"

Another classic Mother's Day movie that fits the bill on Mother's Day is George Stevens' "I Remember Mama." "[It's] as perfect and touching now as it was in 1948," Biancolli told Family.com.

    "Psycho"

If you want a fun twist on the Mother's Day theme when the kids are asleep, go for "Psycho" (1960). After all, we moms have a sense of humor, don't we?

    "White Heat"

There's also "White Heat" from 1949. "Jimmy Cagney's mother-fixated gangster yells 'Made it, Ma! Top of the world!' from the top of a burning oil tank, surely one of the weirder maternal shout-outs in film history," Biancolli said.

    Bonus Pick: "Erin Brockovich"

Looking for some inspiration? Try "Erin Brockovich," for which Julia Roberts won a Best-Actress Oscar in 2001. Brockovich's story is sure to inspire any mom. She fights injustice while toting a kid on her hip.
