installing windows xp on a new computer CAN'T BOOT?
I got me a new Alien desktop with AMD. It didn't come with OS so I'm trying to install windows XP. When I try to boot from CD it just sits at "booting from CD:" and you can hear the CD spinning for just the first few seconds and that's it! What am I doing wrong? Windows XP disk is a back up copy of original. Is it possible that it's no good after being copied?

It may be a bad copy or if you are trying to install XP on a SATA drive it won't work. You will need the SATA driver on an external drive or try to package it with an existing windoes installation with nlite.

for sure its a bad copy. try the original and also when you go into the bios to select the first boot device, select the cd drive as the first and then disable all the others so that the computer will spend more time trying to boot from the cd

Yes. Most likely it is the backup cd that is causing the problem. You probably need to do more than just burn the windows os onto a cd.
Try to use the original disk.
