What must we do to stop the violence?

Mary had a little lamb

His fleece was white as snow

And everywhere that Mary went

The lamb was sure to go

He followed her to school one day

Though it wasn’t in the rule

It made the children laugh and play

To have a lamb at school

Well everything changed one day

And Illegal it became

To bring the lamb of God to school

Or even speak his name

Everyday got worse and worse

As days turned into years

But instead of hearing children laugh

We heard gunshots and tears

What must we do to stop the violence

In our schools today

Let’s let the lamb come back to school

And teach our kids to pray

I am astonished how many and even Christians can't see that there was a time in America when Christianity was not criminalized and we did have prayer and even Bible study and devotion in schools and we did not have the problems that we have in our society today. The biggest conduct problems were talking and chewing gum. I understand unbelievers being reluctant to see it, but Christians? I think one of the most important things we can do is to buy and spread the books and videos that contain the true hisstory of America such as One Nation Under God by David C. Gibbs and The American Heritage Series that is put out by Wallbuilders.. The kids today don't realize that they are being taught a revised history that is actually a lie.Otherwise they will just keep throwing money at the problem trying to fix it with programs that only mask the problem instead of remedy it. Folks have worked so hard to secularize our society and have gotten us to the place that we are now. Coaches are forbidden to pray with their athletes. Teachers are forbidden from having Bibles in view of their students. Children are given bad grades when their work contains anything referring to the Christian faith. Yet Bhudism, Islam, even sorcert, withcraft and all manner of trash is not only tollerated but applauded. Why are people so surprised to find a Godless society behaving in a Godless manner? I guess that's why the Bible calls us blind. God bless!!

I think the most important thing to stop violence is to intervene for at-risk children. Neglected and abused children grow up to perpetuate what they know, unless and until someone steps up and makes a difference in their lives.

I know from painful experience that a religious home (and many can attest, a religious school) does not mean one is free from neglect or abuse.

When we as Christians take seriously the command to take care of the fatherless and the widows, we'll see a decline in violence. It's not about making school more religious, but actually walking the talk that will change the world.

Source(s): To the person below who missed that I said "unless or until someone intervenes," I'm sorry I offended you. If you read the part where I know from experience, you would realize I am not picking on abuse victims. I'm just saying that teaching religion in school or even in a home is not what changes lives. It's the application of God's word to our lives lived as an example to others - and in service to each other - that changes the world. The sad truth is that most of the prison population suffered abuse as children. As have most of the mentally ill. Prayer in school won't help them. Stepping up and being involved through mentoring and protecting them will. I don't see that as being contrary to my Christian beliefs. I beleive that's putting my money where my mouth is.

We as Christian Americans must stop electing to our national government Republicans and Democrats. Regardless of what they say and try to make the American public believe. These two political parties are pagonistic and incapable of putting forth a single moral, ethical, principled or righteous person to run for office. It is impossible for any moral, ethical, principled or righteous person to rise high enough in these two corrupt parties to run for office. If they started out righteous they would have to give these principles up to rise in these parties. Nothing will change as long as these two parties control our Government.

gee wizz! i can't believe some of the answers you got on this one Diane. separation of Church and state. is a very big problem. and i beg to differ with who ever said that abused children grow up to abuse! it is not true!!!! i was abused from age 5 until i was 15 almost 16 in every way imaginable! and i have never abused any one!!!!!!!! and i am truly offended by that comment!lets just lock up all the children who get abused and abuse will go away? i do not think so!!! we most defiantly need God back in the school system!!! when i went to school we had prayer every morning.and the violence was no where as bad. as it is now!!and it was not a private school!!to each there own i always taught my kids to pray in school! and those who do not agree do not have to be a part of it. why is it satan always wins ? we as Christian have the same rite to pray as those. who don't ! but it will get worse b/4 it gets better it is the sign of the times.and i am ready to be where there is no pain or tears no sickness.no sorrow. and let me tell you some day every mouth will confess Jesus as the Son of God and will tremble in fear if they do not hear there name in The Lambs Book Of Life God Bless you all ! we are in the last days! people should get ready and this is said with Love not insult

Ever since they took God out of the schools we've seen so much violence in them. I got tell you, you're right!

We need to become more proactive and fight our government on this issue.

We could train our children to be more sensitive to others who are different than them, and to settle differences by means of communication, and to have a willingness to try to see the merits of different viewpoints, and to try to better understand and be sensitive to the problems that some individuals go through. But we must first work on the adults who are suppose to be good examples for the children and are responsible for the moral climate the children find themselves in. We live in this world were a lot of people tend to become polarized into opposing camps with not enough trying to find some middle ground. We could train ourselves and our children to be open to ideas and belief from many sources, and to be truly sensitive to those who are put in desperate situations, caused by our society's neglect to really try to address the serious social problems we have so many of. One can train oneself to be less violent using intense mind-body exercise, intense meditation, as well as intense prayer. But it takes hard work to resist temptation of any type in this world where desires do not tend to be controlled. The desire to be violent can be hard to overcome especially when faced with extreme insensitivity, and when feeling like a trapped animal by conditions around you. A lot of people would act violent under certain intense conditions that may think of themselves as peaceful. Being in control of ones emotions is as difficult as being in control of our physical desires. Most religions do not teach the right training techniques to develop people to be more moral and of strong spiritual character. Morality is not born into people, it has to be trained. And to get strong results the training has to be as tough as the challenges this world will test it with. We do not take the immoral condition of this world seriously enough. When the world has a moral climate that is not that good, the symptoms can show up in the form of immoral conduct that can result in people dieing or being seriously harmed.

Yes, I agree that we should have The Lord's Pray back in our schools, and continue to pray, and request and make points how important it is.

It's so sad and true people are turning their backs on God and wondering why this world is falling apart!!!

  • We need to teach tolerance and alternative reactions to violence. We need to teach our children how to communicate. We do NOT need prayer in school. It's up to parents to indoctrinate their children as they see fit at home and/or through their own religious organization. If you want prayer in school, then enroll your children in private school.

ETA: Really? Thumbs down for supporting a separation of Church and State? I'm all for students being allowed to pray on their own private time during school hours, but not school-led prayer in public schools.

All violence comes from the devil so the only way to stop it is by stopping the devil and his demons. Only the Lord can do that.
