If everyone is so set on being different, then why does everyone end up the same?

I'm doing a project for school and I need some diverse opinions..thanks!

Ashleigh

Update:

by ending up the same, I mean that, in the long run, people work so hard to be different that they all make themselves into the same kind of different, if that makes any sense at all. By ending up, I just mean that, after a time of being an anti-conformist, they make themselves the same as everyone else. (And no, I'm not referring to death.)

Because most people want to be an individual, just like evryone else. If they are truely an individual and different, they are afraid of being shunned by the community. Its one thing to want to be differnt, but then again, just different like all the others.

Thats paradox in a nutshell. If every one is dead set on being different then no one can be different, because everyone is trying to accomplish the same thing.
