Why should I or we use the term feminist or MRA rather than human rights advocates?

In your opinion what is the difference? I don't see it. What is Gender and Women's Studies about anyway?

Well it depends upon your focus. If you want to focus on the plight of women, then you call yourself a feminist. If you wish to focus on men then you call yourself an MRA or a masculist. Both these movements have a focus on a particular part of the population. Masculists and feminists have a focus whereas human rights activists do not have any particular group focus.

Gender and Women's Studies is supposed to be about ways in which society influences gender and how gender might influence society as well as women's impact of society in the past and present.

You have a lot of questions here!

Okay, first, many feminists consider themselves humanists as well and human rights advocates. But many feminists believe that feminism pays more attention to women's rights which is important to us as feminists-not just in ending violence against women but making women and the feminine equal in value to that of men and the masculine.

I consider myself to be a human rights advocate and a feminist. I don't see how I would have to choose one over the other. But I am vastly concerned with women's issues globally.

I think feminists tend to focus mainly on women where as human rights advocates are interested in bettering the human condition-regardless of sex globally which I am a big supporter of-mainly through Amnesty International. Human Rights advocates are not necessarily as concerned with sexism on the level that feminists are-beyond that of infringing on human rights. Feminists want equality for women-to be as equal as men. People don't have to chose one over the other.

Secondly, I recommend you take a women's studies class if you are interested. Women's studies focuses on issues that affect women. Academically, women's studies is about studying various topics-like in a traditional education: history, sociology, economics, political science, art, literature, anthropology, classical studies, etc.. But the FOCUS is on women in these topics since women are traditionally left out of normal academia. In a nutshell anyway.

I would recommend looking at UCLA's Women's Studies program to learn more about it.

the appropriate to bathe water is approximately human beings no longer having to stroll quite a few miles to a muddy flow or spring to get water it quite is so polluted it quite is in all probability to reason serious ailment. it is not something by any skill to do with having bottled water at school. Your college has the appropriate to make and word despite regulations it considers needed to maintain self-discipline and ensure solid standards of training. in case you do no longer basically like the regulations, it quite is basically difficult - yet once you went to the college your dad and mom agreed which you, and that they, could abide by the regulations that have been set. Your dad and mom ordinary the college regulations on your behalf, so which you haven't any longer have been given any grounds to *****.

Feminists don t care about human rights, in their (and your) warped brains only women deserve rights.

Because refusing to call ourselves feminists when we stand for all of the things that feminists stand for is a slap in the face to the original feminists and all that they've done for women (and humanity as a whole).

Do you believe in equal treatment regardless of gender and bringing about an end to sexism? Do you value your rights, which were fought and won for you by feminists? Then call yourself a feminist. You can call yourself a human rights advocate as well...feminism and being a human rights advocate easily go hand-in-hand. But, if you value the rights and freedoms you currently have, and you feel that men and women deserve equal treatment, then definitely call yourself a feminist. To do otherwise is to be inaccurate, as well as ungrateful to the women who did so much for women's rights.

Because neither group cares much about the other gender. They push their own agenda irrespective of the effect on others.

Those groups focus on one gender....Human Rights Activists would focus on everyone regardless of sex, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality etc.

Feminists advocates should use the term "self-womanism".
