Are Disney gift cards usable in Disney World?

I work at a Disney Store, and yes the gift cards that you find in the stores can be used down at the parks. They are good at most places on Property. The only places that might not take them are the ones that Disney doesnt own.(even some of these do however). They can be used for shopping, buying tickets, for hotel rooms, and dining ( Last time I went, I put paid for my hotel and all of my meals with the Gift Card, I was even able to deduct my tips off of it) The card also is good at Disney Stores, Disney Cruise, Disneyland, and you can use them at disneyshopping.com. Also, keep in mind that the are reloadable and you can reload them in the parks as well as Disney Stores. You will find that they carry the exact same card in WDW as in the Disney Store. Honeebee's answer is correct. I too work at my local Disney Store and sell a lot of these cards. I would recommend giving the gift card over the Disney Dollars because your friends are carrying around 1 credit card rather than a bunch of Disney Dollars which could get lost.

I always have and will pick Disney World. I am going in April with my wife and kids, and we can't wait (29 days as of today!) Universal has more roller coasters and thrill rides, but I can stay home and do that at Six Flags and save a ton of money. I go to Disney for the Disney experience. Stay on the grounds and go do everything they have to offer. Universal is one or two days, Disney is a whole week. I get treated like a king, the service is second to none. To me it's a no brainer.

Disney has many different kinds of gift cards and they are not labeled. ASK THE CASHIER! I have had Gift Cards before that WILL NOT WORK! I would hate for you to get there and then no be able to use it.

I would recommend getting him Disney Dollars instead of a gift card. They are more fun, they have pictures of the characters and come in different denominations. My kids love to get them.

When you go to the Disney Store, make sure you tell the cashier that the gift card is for use at WDW and they will make sure you get the correct card.
