Did Obama really say this?

I know this is rehashing old news and I really don't know how valid this is but I'm just curious.

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides," Obama said. "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd

Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it."

It sounds like you are quoting from something printed. Since it is word for word I would say that he actually said it. I doubt very much that someone else made it up & attributed it to him.

It makes me question his reasoning abilities. A citizen of the U.S. shouldn't care what others outside of the U.S. thinks about the symbolism of the flag.

    He said it, all right:

“As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides,” Obama said. “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.”

ETA: For those of you who don't believe he said it, Google it!!! That's what I did!

What is wrong with recognising faults in ones nation. His love for America, like most Democrats, is like that of a man who loves a woman with open eyes he is enchanted by her beauty, yet he sees her faults. So we, too, who know America, love her beauty, her richness, her great possibilities; we love her mountains, her canyons, her forests, her Niagara, and her deserts--above all do we love the people that have produced her wealth, her artists who have created beauty, her great apostles who dream and work for liberty--but with the same passionate emotion we hate her superficiality, her cant, her corruption, her mad, unscrupulous worship at the altar of the Golden Calf.

No I do not "think" he ever said the above. However, I find it very unpatriotic for him NOT to wear a flag pin wanting the highest office of this Land. I also find it very unpatriotic about the National Anthem. I fear since he has stayed in his so called "christian" church for so long, he also believes in its theology.......the Black Liberation Theology. If that is true, Obama is in fact a traitor to this great Nation, and to the "Christian Theology" that the majority find true.

You been listening to Karl Roveagain, lol. What he actually said is "a true patriot carries their patriotism in their heart, not on their lapel".

He said it and it's another race oriented statement. What' unifying about that.

Funny how you don't list the source. And HILLARY 2008, a blog written by John Semmens is not an adequate or reliable source. Please people.

This sounds nothing like his manner of speech and he is not unpatriotic. Please stop spreading lies and trying to act innocent by saying, "I know this is rehashing...."

It is not valid and don't rely on people in here to do your research for you.

    Yes, he said it.

He cares more about other countries (especially those in Africa) than he does about the U.S. ...so why does he want to be *our* leader??? Being elected the President of the United States of America *is* "taking sides." The leader of our country had better be on our side! You're either one of us, or one of them. I'm not sure which side Obama is on.

....but Obama stands for the truth, unlike Hillary who thinks she can deceive most people all the time under disguise.
