Why do triune godhead believers use water as an analogy?

They say water can be 3 things, but overlook the fact that a single drop of water can't be a liquid, a solid and a vapor AT THE SAME TIME. Certainly they can't be that obtuse. Then why do they pick on the clover? There are 3 and 4 leaf clovers...along with a stem and root system. You get my drift. Why not just say it's a 'mystery' or better still that 'our puny human brains can't 'grasp' the concept. Or maybe, they have it wrong. I mean, the Christians of the first Century certainly did not think there was a 'godhead', they knew there is only 1 God, and then there is his Son, the firstborn of creation, Jesus.

Christ said this: He said to them: “YOU, though, who do YOU say I am?” 16 In answer Simon Peter said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 In response Jesus said to him: “Happy you are, Simon son of Jo´nah, because flesh and blood did not reveal [it] to you, but my Father who is in the heavens did.

Doesn't sound like triune to me. 1 God, 1 Son. Simple truth

Update:

John 1:11 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.

John 14:. 28 YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.

30in order for the world to know that I love the Father, even as the Father has given me commandment [to do], so I am doing.

bent his knees and began to pray, 42 saying: “Father, if you wish, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, let, not my will, but yours take place.”

Update 2:

It is so obvious that the Father and the Son are two completely different beings. The Son, Jesus doing the bidding, the commands even, of the Father, Jehovah God. The Holy Spirit is the will of God, used to accomplish what He pleases...his active force.

Jesus himself tells you the Father is greater than I am. You still don't believe.

! Corr 15:24 Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power.

Update 3:

Thank You, Zorro!! Finally, someone gets it!!

well the answer is simple ITS AN EASY WAY TO TRY & PROVE THEIR POINT.

they want to believe the lie rather then the truth

(2 Thessalonians 2:9-12) . . .But the lawless one’s presence is according to the operation of Satan with every powerful work and lying signs and portents 10 and with every unrighteous deception for those who are perishing, as a retribution because they did not accept the love of the truth that they might be saved. 11 So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie, 12 in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness. . .

Here's how Jesus put it to Jewish Lawyers (Pharsees)

(Matthew 15:6-9) . . .And so YOU have made the word of God invalid because of YOUR tradition. 7 YOU hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about YOU, when he said, 8 ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines. . .

    Jesus was quoting Isaiah 29:13

I am a confirmed Lutheran and Catholic. I am ordained. I have been to other churches: Baptist, Assembly of God, Non denominational, and others. I have never ever heard your description of the trinity used. While it is a mystery to most of us I propose this:

    http://kingdomgospel.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/a-th...

I do not wish to make this doctrine yet. But have pondered this for a couple years and wish to make it public and get response before adding it to my website as doctrine.

Solomon said that nothing under the sun is new:

Ecl1:9 ... and there is no new thing under the sun.

Therefore anything on earth is just a duplication of what God has done elsewhere, in heaven. Jesus also spoke about this when He said He has not done anything unless He has seen His Father do it:

John 5:19 ...The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

This means that when Jesus was creating the world and took Adam's rib out to make Eve, Jesus had seen the Father do something similar. I will return to this in a moment.

First I wish to address the nature of humanity to make a point. Man is triune:

    1 Thes 5:

23: ...I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body...

Now if we are triune, then God must be as well:

Gen:1:26: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...

Now imagine God having 3 parts within Himself like man, but decided to give each part His own life:

    John 5:

    26: For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

And thus God removed Jesus from Himself, as an example to Jesus to remove a rib from Adam, making Jesus the 1st born.

    Col 1:

15: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him

Thus before Jesus was taken out of God to have His own person, He was in God. Now imagine if all 3 parts of you were separated and had their own life. Yet all 3 would still be you!

This theory does not take away from Jesus divinity, in any of the time frame of the theory, nor does it take away from His eternal nature as He existed in unity in God before the separation.

John 4:24 says, "God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in truth and in spirit." This verse means nothing to those who don't believe, but I believe.

You have already established that God is The Father and The Son. This verse establishes that He is a spirit. Since God is a spirit, and He is holy, then He must be a Holy Spirit. Ergo, Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

The Father of judeochristianity is Saturn/Satan, Jesus is the good sun here to save us from his evil daddy who murdered over 2 million people in the bible....

George Lucas based the relationship between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader on Christian gnosticism.

Jesus is simply God incarnate. The holy spirit is simply God himself coming down in his spirit form to us here on earth.

There is no trinity. It's a man-made, unbiblical doctrine.

Jesus is the Word. The Word was with God and was God. God is holy. God is spirit. Thus, Jesus = God = Holy Spirit.

yes, but doesn't it say that in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god? ( and Jesus, as we all know is the word). I agree with our puny little brains not being able to comprehend.

im confused is it wrong to believe that God jesus and the holy spirit have the same spirit?

because as far as i can tell it makes sence...

but i keep hearing stuff about the no three...

Well, does that imply the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are simply of different temperatures?
